Life of a Reformed Jerk. The musings of a man who was a jerk but has now changed his ways. Friday, July 30, 2004. Last day at UBiC. I spent a part of the afternoon packing up my stuff. I was a bit sad when I saw that I could pack up more than two years worth of work and memories into one small Roots backpack. But I attribute this to the ingenius design of the backpack, rather than my lack of accomplishments at work. Posted by Reformed Jerk @ 9:51 PM. Wednesday, July 28, 2004. Tuesday, July 27, 2004.

Life of a Reformed Jerk. The musings of a man who was a jerk but has now changed his ways. Thursday, December 23, 2004. Why I don't drink, and other observations. This is why I don't drink: I lack some sort of dehydrogenase protein and drinking even small amounts of alcohol causes my face to flush red and my head to feel like it's going to explode. I derive absolutely no pleasure at all from drinking because of this genetic abberration, and so I generally don't touch the stuff. Another Perrier for you?

Tell me about yours. Posted by Reformed Jerk @ 9:04 PM. Tuesday, September 21, 2004. Take me out to the ball game. The view of the CN Tower through the open roof of the SkyDome on a late summer evening is difficult to put into words for even the best writers, so what can I possibly say to convey its beauty? Kizzle will be here.

The far East isn't far from where I'm sitting. Monday, August 25, 2008. A View from the Top. Last weekend I climbed Mt. Hakusan, thus completing my climb of Japan's "Three Holy Mountains "(along with Mt. Tateyama and Mt. Fuji). This was by far the most beautiful climb, although it was the most difficult. The weather was good for the entire climb, and despite the serious muscle pain I'm now feeling, it was a worthwhile experience. The torii gate at the beginning of the trail. Sunset near the top. Two week...

The far East isn't far from where I'm sitting. Monday, June 23, 2008. A blog for all seasons 1. The rainy season is now upon us here in. So naturally, I’ll be spending the next week holed up in my apartment building an ark. And in true Japanese style it will be small and fuel efficient. I thought in honour of the crappy weather, and my having been here for over a year, I’d show you. This is the lantern at Oyama Shrine. Wednesday, June 18, 2008. Teenage Mutant Ninja Bread. This little guy is a meronpan.

The far East isn't far from where I'm sitting. Wednesday, July 23, 2008. What are you anyways? I've been asked by several people, as all travelers are inevitably asked, "Why did you came to Japan? And for the most part, the answer is mood dependent. It runs the gamut from "I like sushi" to "I want to find myself, and become more independent". I suppose the second answer is more to the point. Recently I came across an animated short that really sums up the true answer for me. What are you Anyways? We had ...
