http://scotthawker.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Running adventures and finding elevation. Sunday, 25 May 2014. Another race, another lesson learned - TNF100 Australia Race Report 2014. Hey Tom, have you been outside yet bro? It's real mild out there ay". As the sun started to rise in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains I felt a really special day was ahead. The days leading up to the race had been much more relaxed and quieter than they usually are before races and I was in a really good head space. Running along Narrow Neck. Yes I love trail running!

It's easier to go down a hill than up it but the view is much better at the top." Henry Ward Beecher. Friday, 1 November 2013. Running through the picturesque oceanic scenery, rugged coastlines, and the tall forest surroundings of rural Victoria, was what I was eagerly looking forward to, when I signed up for my second time, to participate in this years Surfcoast Century 100km. The next few kilometers, I found myself running in a comfortable rhythm. I had decided now not to focus all my mental and ph...

It's easier to go down a hill than up it but the view is much better at the top." Henry Ward Beecher. Sunday, 17 February 2013. Break is over. 2013 Races begin! After 6 inch I decided to take a good month and a half off, to give my body a rest. I had had many niggles and pains that I could not shake throughout 2012. So taking some time to recover was definately on the things to do list. We ended up clocking up 37kms in 40 degree heat. I had to stop at every toilet block to drench myself in water and ...

It's easier to go down a hill than up it but the view is much better at the top." Henry Ward Beecher. Thursday, 16 August 2012. Training for the Surf Coast Century. A few weeks after completing the Kep Ultra 75, I knew I wanted to push myself further and to test my limits. I quickly jumped back on the Aura website and started to search for a 100km race. I knew Western Australia didn't accommodate many ultra races, so I began to look in Victoria, because my brother lived in Melbourne. I was easily sold.

It's easier to go down a hill than up it but the view is much better at the top." Henry Ward Beecher. Wednesday, 27 February 2013. Can't escape the Niggles. The past week has been a big eye opener! Immediantly I booked in my local physio for needling and another physio in Claremont who had offered to perform a free running scan. I did not want to sit on any niggles, as of last year I ran through my calf pain, only to cause more tearing; setting me back a few months. On the Sunday I ran with my sister on ...

It's easier to go down a hill than up it but the view is much better at the top." Henry Ward Beecher. Wednesday, 3 July 2013. Kep ultra / current progress. Video filmed by Bryn Donkersloot. As the video highlights, I started off a little too quickly! I ran the whole race on two and a half gels and two cups of coke supplied at the aid stations. I was hoping to run most of the race on perp as it had worked for me at Northface, however not in this case, every sip seemed to sit at the back of my throat a...

Running Free: Elevation and Races
http://jamessheldonroberts.blogspot.com/2013/03/elevation-and-races.html
It's easier to go down a hill than up it but the view is much better at the top." Henry Ward Beecher. Monday, 25 March 2013. For the last couple of weeks I have been taking it relatively easy, giving my body time to recover and keep it free from any niggles or injury setbacks. I did not have many races planned before the North Face 100 and I was aiming to slowly build my weekly km's closer to race day, little did I know it all changed! I continued to power hike the hills and ran hard on the descent. ...
