Unrealistic Expectations – A Glimpse of My World

https://rachelmelillo.wordpress.com/2016/01/03/unrealistic-expectations

A Glimpse of My World. Teacher. Traveler. Lifelong learner. January 3, 2016. January 3, 2016. In every one of these statements, there is some truth. Someone had a [bad] experience and they’ve just passed the story down like a game of telephone. The truth gets twisted and exaggerated the farther it goes. If all we see is the bad in a place, then we will never be happy anywhere we are or anywhere we go. There are bad days and good days in China. Sometimes I look out and I see China as district 12 from ...

A Glimpse of My World. Teacher. Traveler. Lifelong learner. Welcome to Stage 2. December 2, 2015. December 3, 2015. It’s easily evened out by the awe of the Chinese characters everywhere, the dragon arch in front of my apartment complex, and the general joy of being back in a city with public transportation. That said, China is still a great experience and I’m not regretting a thing (except for maybe the whole ‘preschool’ part of the deal). Since nobody really speaks English, it&#82...Since I don’t...

Church in Changsha – A Glimpse of My World

A Glimpse of My World. Teacher. Traveler. Lifelong learner. December 6, 2015. December 6, 2015. The church is called Changsha International Christian Fellowship. Now to. Answer the question(s) that I’m sure is sitting on the edge of your tongues: Is it an underground church? Are you going to be arrested? One of my favorite things is when believers from around the world gather together and our faith unites us despite our cultural, linguistic, and physical differences. December 6, 2015 at 2:57 pm.

Beijing: My Forbidden City – A Glimpse of My World

https://rachelmelillo.wordpress.com/2016/04/13/beijing-my-forbidden-city

A Glimpse of My World. Teacher. Traveler. Lifelong learner. Beijing: My Forbidden City. April 13, 2016. November 17, 2016. Recently, I had the pleasure of getting to spend four beautiful, perfect days in Beijing — which enabled me to get some experience with china’s transportation system as well as check off some must-sees on my travel bucket list. Now, I will admit that I came to Beijing in the perfect circumstances (by accident actually! Beijing follows more western rules: no smoking inside, no litteri...

Loving the life I've been given. Perk #23: Daily Successful Exhaustion. Perk #42: Teaching is NEVER boring. Perk #73: Reading isn’t just for nerds. Before teaching first grade, I didn’t realize how many students would only know their letter sounds and not actually know how to put them together and read. What an amazing opportunity it is to be able to teach a child how to read or to be able to enhance their reading skills! Perk #95: Momma, I mean Miss Hickerson. But YAY for exercise built into my job!

Creating a technicolor masterpiece. Dear Josh Ritter,. Posted on May 7, 2013. Dear Josh Ritter, I heard you played here at Messiah on Friday night, and that you had a few things to say upon reading our community covenant. The second-hand accounts I heard from fellow students made my stomach turn a little, so I checked out your official post. About it later to see for myself. Some of your comments included:. Beth’s response is well-said, diplomatic, and beautifully executed. I’m thankful s...Us, you talked.

Loving the life I've been given. Monthly Archives: July 2015. They say home is where the heart is, but what if your heart is in a million different places? Traveling brings amazing opportunities and eye opening experiences but it also comes with a cost. You’ve lost a simpler way of thinking. Home will never be the same in your mind. Probably not. (Insert needed blog about expectations here hah) Whatever the outcome of how things work out, I have learned to accept them and even find joy in the outcome.

Loving the life I've been given. Adventures in South Korea 3. April 21, 2015. Now I am definitely not an expert on Korea or the culture but some things that I was able to experience and learn through this trip are as follows:. Korean food isn’t American-level spicy, it is HELL-level spicy. If someone in Korea tells you that you have a small face, it is a compliment. Eating a traditional Korean meal consists of a milllllllllion side dishes that seem like a meal but then wait! So Much. Food. Who knew this ...

Loving the life I've been given. Give thanks, daily. Adventures in South Korea 3 ». March 18, 2015. Bleh, personally I hate that word and the labels that I associate with that word. How could my world function if it didn’t go as I had planned? It came to a point where I just needed to turn off my thoughts and. Ya know, I thought lon...

Catalyst Christians: Why we shouldn't use new music in worship services

http://catalystchristian.blogspot.com/2013/04/why-we-shouldnt-use-new-music-in.html

Christians who want to accelerate change in themselves and in this world. Catalyst Orphanage, Dommeru, India. Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Why we shouldn't use new music in worship services. 8220;A prominent American pastor compiled this list of complaints regarding new music in the church:. 1 It’s too new, like an unknown language. 2 It’s not so melodious as the more established style. 3 There are so many new songs that it is impossible to learn them all. 6 The lyrics are often worldly, even blasphemous.
