Wednesday, September 11, 2013. Well my lovely wife got a new job. Since the physical therapy world pays quite a bit better than being a lowly bicycle mechanic I have reduced my time in the bike shop to 3 days a week. The rest of the time I stay home with my 3 year old daughter, which is pretty cool. Now I leave you with fork seals and busted BB's. This comment has been removed by the author. Finally lit the torch again after many years to help modify a CETMA rack to mount better to a Surly cross check. My workshop is still not very well equipped but I returned to my roots and did the work with a hacksaw, couple files, and a really cheap crappy 3" chinese vise. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Saturday, May 9, 2015. I finally got the tubes all tacked together and it's time to start the lay up of the joints. This is the first bike that I've ever done with full carbon construction, and honestly, it's a lot easier than working with bamboo. Things are straight, at least for the factory made tubes, and there isn't the concern about splitting. A quick rundown of the geometry that I've settled on for my 'perfect' road bike. All dimensions in millimeters. Though that was largely due to an incorrect fit.

Friday, December 13, 2013. Some inspiration and reconfiguration. Some good posts recently on Bike Rumor. Which have solidified my idea of making a full carbon bike for myself. I'm even thinking that I'm going to take a stab at molding my own tubes around a mandrel. I've done some dissecting of a Scott Addict top tube, and will delve into some other bits and pieces to get a better idea for what other companies are doing.
