VendrediFriday: Thinking Ahead A Summer Ago
http://vendredifriday.blogspot.com/2009/02/thinking-ahead-summer-ago.html
A creative cooking community. Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Thinking Ahead A Summer Ago. Towards the end of last summer I threw a few things in my freezer, and now, these fresh herbs and fruits in stasis are getting me through this long, bleak winter. Frozen Basil in Olive Oil. I've been using the result all winter long. Like last night: I sautéed some portobello mushrooms and a little smoked sausage in the basil/olive oil, then tossed with pasta, served with Parmesan, a little sea salt, and some cru...

VendrediFriday: An Ode to Mariage Frères
http://vendredifriday.blogspot.com/2009/02/ode-to-mariages-freres.html
A creative cooking community. Friday, February 27, 2009. An Ode to Mariage Frères. Some of Mariage Frères Earl Grey French Blue tea, recently delivered by Mandy. When one finds something that makes you so indescribably happy, so content, you deserve to stick with it. For me, teatime with a blend from Parisian tea purveyor Mariage Frères. What more can I say. Go there. Buy some tea. You'll say, "Thank you VendrediFriday! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). More places to visit. An Ode to Mariage Frères.

VendrediFriday: May 2007
http://vendredifriday.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
A creative cooking community. Sunday, May 13, 2007. Everyone should have an extending joke fork. To save the day when cooking hot sausage-zucchini pasta! It's a relatively easy dish to prepare (and ended up being its usual yummy self), but while I was balancing its various ingredients in spots throughout my teeny kitchen, I managed to dump lots of the zucchini onto the floor between the stove and the wall. Great. Thank God for the bottle of wine I'd picked up and my magically-extending joke fork. I was s...

VendrediFriday: March 2007
http://vendredifriday.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
A creative cooking community. Sunday, March 25, 2007. Roast Pork Stir Fry. Thanks to Tony and Tommy for pointing out that you can buy roast pork from a Chinese market. For years I have admired the glistening tea-smoked ducks, roast chickens, and other meats hanging in the windows in Chinatown, but for some reason I never actually bought anything until last fall. Whenever I get roast pork- my absolute favorite- I use it to make an easy stir fry or pop it in a nooodle soup. 1 handful or so rice vermicelli.

A creative cooking community. Wednesday, June 27, 2007. Summer in the City. Summer has officially arrived.or at least my grill pan has. The poor little thing has been hiding for a few years.I haven't been in the mood to use it/smell up my apartment/etc. But with the onset of summer and my craving for fresh, simple fare, it has been resurrected! And for dessert, Jimmy and Dan brought some pints of vanilla and pistachio ice cream.and Dan and I drizzled a little maple syrup on the vanilla.Yummy! I love gril...

VendrediFriday: Best Root Beer Float. Ever. By Accident.
http://vendredifriday.blogspot.com/2009/02/best-root-beer-float-ever-by-accident.html
A creative cooking community. Monday, February 9, 2009. Best Root Beer Float. Ever. By Accident. Saturday's VendrediFriday adventure to glamorous Teaneck, NJ included a stop at Bischoff's. We sat at the counter so we could watch the servers in their bow ties and paper hats make everyone's mid-afternoon treats. I couldn't decide between two childhood favorites. Would I go for a scoop of butter crunch? I watched the sweet old man- who's probably worked there since 1954- make a REAL root beer float. Fir...

VendrediFriday: Warm Pimentón Chicken and Arugula Salad
http://vendredifriday.blogspot.com/2009/02/warm-pimenton-chicken-and-arugula-salad.html
A creative cooking community. Sunday, February 22, 2009. Warm Pimentón Chicken and Arugula Salad. I think I'm addicted to Pimentón. Is there something in it? I've only had it my cupboard for a little over a week, and I've used it in practically every meal I've made. I guess I'll have to do a little research. Warm Pimentón Chicken and Arugula Salad. About two or three large handfuls of arugula (or for you Brits, rocket). 1/4 c shredded cooked chicken. 1 tsp 1 tbsp. olive oil. 1/4 tsp. pimentón.
