We Are Made of Sound: March 2011
http://wearemadeofsound.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 31, 2011. The Future-Church Website and The Collected Puns of Mr. Freeze. Some things are sent to you and you need to share them with the world before you get back to work. The world needs to know immediately. Two things were sent my way that you need to know about. First, please witness Evangel Cathedral's website. Secondly, observe "The Tragedy of Mr. Freeze," which is a perfect compilation for the Govenator's retirement party. Wednesday, March 30, 2011. My faith is fine." Really? In fa...

The Choice Images of James Gray. May 2, 2013. While taking screencaps, I found myself inundated with pictures from. While severely lacking some from. We Own the Night. Would probably feature more prominently had a decent video ever been released, allowing me to better appreciate its colour, texture, and framing. As for. I’ve always found the film less striking visually (certainly following Savides’ anamorphic wonder. Speaking of sullen, impenetrable shapes. The first shot of. The above, again from. As Ma...

Misfortune Cookie Blog: The year in dog
http://misfortune-cookie.blogspot.com/2011/12/year-in-dog.html
December 1, 2011. The year in dog. Uggy in The Artist. We'll start with the pup that won big at Cannes. Yes, Uggy is the lucky recipient of this year's Palm Dog award, which the Cannes jury awards every year for best canine performance. (I pretty much died when I found out that this was a real thing). To call Uggy a scene-stealer would be to call Citizen Kane. The Doberman and dachshunds in Hugo. Laika in Le Havre. Even though the Palm Dog went to Uggy this year, a special jury prize was given to Laika&#...

The Outsiders Looking In: May 2005
http://mmmgravy.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html
The Outsiders Looking In. The internet's most dilapidated tree-house since 2004. Tuesday, May 31, 2005. According to MapQuest.com, Las Vegas in a mere 18-hour drive. Gets one thinking. Monday, May 30, 2005. I can't believe Nancy and I actually pulled this one off and I'm so proud of us. Anyway then we made food and played an awesome game of kickball! You guys are the best! And of course, pictures: click the link! PS We won the game show because Rachel Finn is a beast, (She carried the team to victory).

March 12, 2012. Due to the unfortunate timing of my birth, in 2009 I found myself graduating from college smack-dab into a recession. With a film degree, no less. Needless to say, I had a rough couple years there before I wound up in Los Angeles and miraculously snagged an entertainment industry job. It's a temporary position, however, so I'll soon find myself out on the proverbial streets again. It wasn't always this way. How do I know? To which they naturally respond yes, and are hired on the spot....

January 5, 2012. Best overlooked and underappreciated performances of 2011. Rainn Wilson as Frank in Super. Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Adam in 50/50. Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton as Tommy and Brendan Conlon in Warrior. While it's true that both films feature brothers who participate in ring-enclosed sports, the similarities end there - Warrior. Conan O'Brien as himself in Conan O'Brien Can't Stop. And Steve Coogan as himself-ish in The Trip. Cuz like, isn't life just a performance, you guys? In all seriousne...

Misfortune Cookie Blog: Perilous pups and killer kittens
http://misfortune-cookie.blogspot.com/2012/04/perilous-pups-and-killer-kittens.html
April 24, 2012. Perilous pups and killer kittens. Ever cruise around the internet and find something so tailored to your interests that you figure you probably created it in your sleep? Check out the list here. And part II here. More of a horse person? Don't worry, the list creator thought of that too. I love the internet. So, so much. This comment has been removed by the author. April 24, 2012 at 7:56 AM. This is crazy good (and so is your blog)! April 24, 2012 at 7:57 AM. View my complete profile.

October 19, 2011. Second-tier and loving it. They can't all be winners. Even the strongest, smartest, most talented directors will misfire occasionally. It happens, and it's forgivable. But what about the works that lie between masterpiece and failure? The films that, far from being nonentities, are proudly second-tier? Masterpieces include: Psycho, Rear Window. But do check out: Foreign Correspondent. But it's entertaining nonetheless. But do check out: Key Largo. But do check out: Young Man with a Horn.

Little Worlds : November 2013
http://hokahey-littleworlds.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Celebrating my 8th year of writing about movies. Monday, November 25, 2013. Cinematic Book Clone: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. I have read all three books in The Hunger Games. In the movie industry. Profits and the fans demand the cinematic clones the books they love with a passion, in this case, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. There is nothing touching, compelling, gripping, or remarkable about Catching Fire. Whose fault is cloning books as movies? Was it that Twilight. And The Hunger Games. Are no...
