Fixtures without validation with Factory Girl. 8211; Nice idea for generating bad data in a concise and repeatable way. 8211; Develop with MyISAM, test with InnoDB. Rails Reconstructed
Tearing apart, explaining, and reconstructing Rails, one method at a time. Had an experience trying to send an improvement to Rails that I tweeted about, but decided I’d write a blog post. I’m going to break my original format, because that was so 2013. Why set a default value to nil, and then set it to a hash if it’s falsey? That seems like extra work. This will work exactly the way I expected. It’ll put in an empty hash, and everything is happy! This will also work fine, getting the hash in options.
