Raising Golden Boys

Wednesday, August 27, 2014. A Few Tidbits I've Learned From Mothering Boys. Because I'm a boy-mom, I'm often the only fully clothed person in our house. I'm also the only one who thinks that a new school year calls for new clothes. Or underwear. Once a pair of tennis shoes gets wet, there is little hope that it will ever smell non-toxic again. Someone should invent glow-in-the-dark Legos. Grubby and tired is better than clean and bored. I do not unload groceries. When a boy asks "What's for dinner? Boys ...

Raising Golden Boys: October 2010

http://www.raisinggoldenboys.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 28, 2010. Now clearly, our oldest son was playing with Legos. This is not unusual. He loves to build intricate contraptions with the tiny pieces. The unusual thing was that he was alone.all alone. Um, looks like you're playing Legos to me.". Yeah, I'm seeking. They're hiding.". Welcome to the club, little dude.". Sure, there are more photo albums of us. And when we came along, we got ALL of the attention from our parents and grandparents and the world at large. But with all of t...In my...

Raising Golden Boys: August 2010

Wednesday, August 11, 2010. How Great is Our God - Sing with Me! It's not about me. Whatever "it" is, it's definitely not about me. Life, worship, power, fame, adoration, strength - I am not the focus of any of it. And boy, has this become evident to me this week. BUT WAIT JUST A MINUTE! Our God doesn't act based on. Yes, God loves me and has fully paid the price for me to be His. He does hear my prayers and generously answers. My relationship with Him is deeply personal and intense. But the ...And with ...

Raising Golden Boys: July 2010

http://www.raisinggoldenboys.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Pull Ups and Pacifiers. Our youngest little Golden boy is now three years old, but he's having trouble giving up the last vestiges of babyhood: diapers and pacifiers. Technically, he's wearing Pull Ups and only has his "pappie" at nght, but he is not at all convinced that he's ready to give up either one. He does run around like his big brothers. And talk like his big brothers. And *sigh* smell like his big brothers. And isn't that just the way the Father treats me too? We spent t...

Raising Golden Boys: My Daddy's Words

http://www.raisinggoldenboys.blogspot.com/2011/06/my-daddys-words.html

Sunday, June 19, 2011. He said, "You are my delight." I heard, "You are accepted.". He said, "You'll never get too big to sit on my lap." I heard, "You are adored.". He said, "Jesus is the way, the truth and the life." I heard, "You can trust Him.". He said, "You are beautiful because of who you are on the inside." I heard, "Your heart is lovely.". He said, "Help me stack the firewood." I heard, "You are strong.". He said, "You will be a good driver one day." I heard, "You are capable.".

RAISING GOD'S KIDS

This is a place for the parents to come and discuss the challenges and victories of raising up their children in the Lord. Wednesday, November 16, 2011. No Birthday, Christmas or Easter for you Young Man! Fear of consequences is what keeps our society civil. Without it there is a disregard for authority and a dismissal of personal responsibility for behavior. The same holds true for making a promise. Don't promise something to appease your child in the moment that you are not prepared to follow throu...

Raising God's Rewards

Thursday, May 7, 2015. Too Much Too Soon. When my little toddlers were ages 2 and 3, I couldn't WAIT to give them a kitchen set! My husband and I saved and we purchased a Fisher Price kitchen set, complete with pots and pans and a dish set and even groceries. It was a big purchase for us, and their Christmas gift had to be combined. I remember Christmas morning when they woke up. They were totally disinterested in the kitchen set after the big hoopla my husband and I threw over it. Being able to have it!

Raising God's Soldiers

Therefore, put on the whole armor of God.Ephesians 6:11. Saturday, March 2, 2013. Slowing down to enjoy the finer things in life. We have been living in our sweet log cabin for over 6 months now; the time has flown by! It was our puppy Lucy's first snow and she loved it! Each kid made their own snowman (actually, Mary made a snow kitty), right in the middle of the fairway! Can someone say "Fore? Sunday, December 30, 2012. Say It Isn't So! Wednesday, July 01, 2015. I have been called to be prayerfully affirming. Note- all links will be marked with an asterisk and will be footnoted). Not everyone takes that route, and the rainbowing of my facebook profile picture drew ire from one of my co-religionists, who felt I should not have overlaid our church with this symbol of inclusion. Our 2015 Mexico Mission Team, before leaving to serve an orphanage in Tijauana. I feel this rainbow is right and perfect. This is my second year walking with Open ...
