Raising Ollie

My son's life with a single mama. Sunday, January 8, 2012. I realize it's been awhile since I've blogged. It's been a quick fall. The biggest change in our lives is that Ollie started preschool and he rides a 'big yellow bus' every day. The first couple of weeks were rough (for both of us) and many tears were shed on that bus! Now he loves the bus and looks forward to his bus ride each morning. Here is a cute story. After a few seconds he came back with, "Mommy, are we. Posted by Megan Moran. Ollie: Why ...

Raising Ollie: That's a bad choice mom...

http://www.raisingollie.blogspot.com/2011/02/thats-bad-choice-mom.html

My son's life with a single mama. Friday, February 25, 2011. That's a bad choice mom. Sometimes the fact that I'm a teacher clearly shows. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing! The other day Ollie was playing before we had to leave for work and school. I asked Ollie to clean up so we could leave. His response? That's a bad choice mom.'. He used the expression again a couple more times this week. The funny thing is.I can't even remember ever saying that to him! Posted by Megan Moran. The Traveling...

Raising Ollie: My little buddy burner

http://www.raisingollie.blogspot.com/2011/02/my-little-buddy-burner.html

My son's life with a single mama. Saturday, February 26, 2011. My little buddy burner. Since Ollie was 6 weeks old he has slept through the night. I believe the fact he is an excellent sleeper was God's gift to me because he is such an active toddler. I can probably count on my hand the times he's been up in the middle of the night. However the past few weeks he has been sneaking into my room and climbing in bed with me around 3am. 1 I am half asleep when he comes in. Besides how can I say no to this?

Raising Ollie: A Tale of Two Chickens

http://www.raisingollie.blogspot.com/2011/06/tale-of-two-chickens.html

My son's life with a single mama. Monday, June 20, 2011. A Tale of Two Chickens. Anyone who has met Ollie since the age of 1 has also met his Chicken aka 'Chicky' (left). This bird has followed Ollie everywhere for the past two years! He is now, of course, attached to both. Posted by Megan Moran. June 20, 2011 at 8:12 PM. This comment has been removed by the author. My son's life with a single mama. Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Turkey in the Straw. When we were driving home the other day we were listening to some kids music- and this was the conversation. First up- Turkey in the Straw. Ollie: Mom, how did the turkey get into. Me: Well Ollie it's not a drinking straw it's a different kind of straw. Ollie: But mom, how did he get in. Isn't he too big? Me: Ollie it's a type of grain they feed animals. Me: I'll show you a picture when we get home. Ollie: Mom what is. View my...

The Traveling Teacher: August 2011

http://scienceteachertravels.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

The Misadventures of an American Teacher Abroad. Sunday, August 21, 2011. This week was my first week at the International School of Düsseldorf, and I have to admit, it was REALLY fun! It is so great to be at a school again that values my professional opinion in my own classroom and just leaves me alone to do what I need to do! Every day this week as I was getting excited about things and sharing my excitement with people, they would say "Welcome to an international school! 2 My kids ALL (and I mean ALL)...

http://scienceteachertravels.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

The Misadventures of an American Teacher Abroad. Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Really glad I chose the pork and alcohol option! If you recall, my other option for international jobs was in Kuwait. After a full day in Germany where I have consumed both pork and alcohol already, I sure am glad that I didn't go with the other option! I love it in Düsseldorf already! I will do a full blog on all the details later but for now just wanted to display some pictures of the city! It has a long street name! Marktplatz (...

http://scienceteachertravels.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

The Misadventures of an American Teacher Abroad. Sunday, January 29, 2012. Professional development.not so professional poetry. This weekend I attended the Association of German International Schools (AGIS) Conference in Hanover, Germany. It was a lot of fun getting to meet more of my colleagues and making connections with teachers around Germany in the other international schools. We had a lot of great professional and not-so-professional conversations and laughed all weekend. So, I wrote it down as our...

The Misadventures of an American Teacher Abroad. Sunday, February 26, 2012. A trip to Big Parrot, Giant Cockatiel, no wait.GRAN CANARIA. I have just returned from a great, relaxing, and sunny week in Gran Canaria, Spain. The Canary Islands are off the west coast of Africa, but belong to Spain. Click here. For a quick map. If you are wondering, (and why wouldn't you be) they are called the Canary Islands because they found a lot of wild dogs here at some point.canine.get it? But, where are the canaries?

The Traveling Teacher: Galavanting.

http://scienceteachertravels.blogspot.com/2012/07/galavanting.html

The Misadventures of an American Teacher Abroad. Friday, July 13, 2012. Well, here's what I've figured out. If I am going to live 5,000 miles away from home, I might as well fill my free time with the best trips I can afford. I mean, really, what is the point of living so far away just to sit in my apartment, right? I could have just done that in my house in Colorado waiting for another tree to take it out! So, when I found out that my friend Maura and her friend Lisa (now MY friend Lisa too! You never k...

The Misadventures of an American Teacher Abroad. Monday, April 25, 2011. As I type this, my parents are headed to the airport- without the GPS- so let's hope they find it! They left the GPS "Emily" with me because I have another trip coming up in a few weeks to Wales that will require it! We have had a really fun trip and I am sad to see them go- but I will be there in just over a month so I think I will make it! Lunch at The Royal Standard of England. For over 900 years. They have GREAT food! One of the...

The Misadventures of an American Teacher Abroad. Sunday, October 30, 2011. A Visit from the Parental Units. This week my parents came to visit in Düsseldorf and we did a mini-road trip of the Mosel Wine Region, our little homeland town, Langenfeld, and a short excursion to Amsterdam. It was a really fun week and with a little help from my parents, my apartment is starting to look less like somebody else's leftover junk and more like my own place! The Parents on the Mosel. RAISING OF LAZARUS

We were excited for our week in the Hamptons but unfortunately Quincy fell on the sidewalk the first day. A few stitches and he is as good as new. Alas, mom and dad are a little worse for wear and the bandage makes it look worse than it is. Walking is treacherous but he was immediately back to his old self. The Beach exhibit at the Building Museum in DC is super awesome. Quincy and Jack are looking forward to being tent mates at Keewaydin in a few years. Room service, please. Livin’ large in Umbria.

Official blog for Raising Om in the workplace. Om or Aum is the symbol of the Absolute in Hinduism and represents God. Represents the unmanifest and manifest aspects of God. And OM. Is the infinite vibration that sustains life. Om is the sound of life. If we raise the Om vibration in each aspect of our life, then our line to GOD. Can ring right through. And with a big resounding YES. We handle stress better too. When we raise our OM. It’s much easier to live in that sweet spot. Consider a Blood Drive.

Four Paws and a Puppy Vest. Saturday, June 11, 2011. Miss Petunia was born on April 14, 2011 to Eric and Joyous. She is 8 weeks old and weighs a mere 12lbs, making her, by far, the smallest puppy I have raised. I made it no secret that I didn't want a puppy named Petunia, but the entire way down to Denver I just knew. Her name would be Petunia. It's kinda weird that I knew it, but I did!
