Rambles and Ruminations: 25 Days of Christmas - Day 2

http://www.ramblesandruminations.com/2014/12/25-days-of-christmas-day-2.html

Tuesday, December 02, 2014. 25 Days of Christmas - Day 2. One of the children's most favorite things to do at Christmastime is to make gingerbread houses. Before we left the US for China, Kenny had the genius idea to buy several gingerbread house kits. I know we could make gingerbread from scratch, but getting molasses is no small feat and what I can. This particular kit came with 5 miniature buildings, (only one of which was slightly damaged, miraculous indeed! Complete with skating bears. Ground Hog Da...

Rambles and Ruminations: November 2012

http://www.ramblesandruminations.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 12, 2012. Kenny ran a marathon yesterday. Yeah, I'm impressed too. It's not on my bucket list, but it's on his and now it's crossed off forever. He is already talking about the possi bility of running. Future marathons (Beijing has one in the spring and the fall),. But I think he'll spend some time recovering before he actually signs up to run another one. He did pretty well for his first, and maybe only, time and we're all very proud of him! Yea, marathon man! Tuesday, November 06, 2012.

Rambles and Ruminations: The onset of Advent

http://www.ramblesandruminations.com/2010/11/onset-of-advent.html

Wednesday, December 01, 2010. The onset of Advent. Sunday marked the beginning of Advent, but we are officially starting our countdown to Christmas tomorrow.like everybody else. Our advent calendar from year's past is still boxed away, but that will change soon enough. I'm so EXCITED! I la la la la LOVE Christmas! Last December we found a kid-friendly advent calendar that we are anxious to debut for the boys this year. It is a Pottery Barn Kids. From left to right we have Columbia, Peru and Venezuela.

Rambles and Ruminations: October 2014

http://www.ramblesandruminations.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 16, 2014. That said, the folks at Beijing United Hospital are very friendly and courteous. We have never waited more than a few minutes and our latest visit wasn't even that long. Caleb was already in the system so we didn't even have to do paperwork. In fact, the same doctor was on call and he remembered giving Caleb his first set of staples. Now, I don't know first hand, but apparently, getting staples in one's head hurts. A LOT! 2 staples, ouch! What is this, you ask? US Embassy Rang...

Robin's Nest: Not SCUBA Diving in Moalboal

http://robinblogz.blogspot.com/2014/10/not-scuba-diving-in-moalboal.html

Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Not SCUBA Diving in Moalboal. For Ike's 18th birthday we gave him SCUBA lessons in Moalboal Philippines but found out the night before the lessons started that asthma and SCUBA together are deadly. But we improvised and still had a great vacation. View from our private deck at the Blue Orchid. Esmeralda The Bird loved me. Local transportation in Moalboal. We used the motorized version. To ease the pain of not getting SCUBA certified we snorkeled with the whale sharks:. We spent...

The Blatter Family: July 2010

http://johnandannieb.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, July 31, 2010. July 28-31, Lake Tahoe. A couple of days after getting home from Mexico we had a trip planned to Lake Tahoe. (Lovely to be a Blatter with time-shares! We stayed for a couple of days at the Marriot Timber Lodge like last year. But thankfully the weather was better this year! The only day I had my camera was the day we went to our favorite little spot called Angora Lake. It's so fabulous and picturesque! You have to take a little hike to get to it.(Uncle Scott came with us). He was...

http://johnandannieb.blogspot.com/2012/07/these-made-me-laugh.html

Sunday, July 29, 2012. These made me laugh. These kids crack me up! Every pic has a little gem of personality in it! I haven't used Blogger since the changes so this is all new to me. Saw these pics and had to share. My kids have been BEGGING me to start blogging again so I can document their lives. They read over old stuff all the time. Here is a baby step. Wish me luck! Wow, Annie. I just checked your blog - which I do routinely just in case you might have started posting again - and you had! An Advent...

Life on Longfellow: Holes to heaven

http://lifeonlongfellow.blogspot.com/2009/10/holes-to-heaven.html

Saturday, October 31, 2009. You know how there are long lists of projects that you need to work on and you just have to squeeze bits of them in when you can? We've had these roof vents sitting in a box in the office since the summer, but just haven't had time to put them in. There are four that need to go in, but it looks like it might rain today so we only got to one. There is really nothing like chopping a hole in your roof when the sky is so overcast. Were very impressed on our side of the hemisphere.

Tuesday, April 7, 2015. EAWE: Tanzania Day 1. Don't worry, said Kenya Airways, we'll put you up in a hotel for the day. Saturday, April 25, 2015. After leaving our private elephant show we drove back to the Serena for lunch before setting off on our long, hard drive to the Serengeti. Our Family: September 2012

http://stephlandan.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 23, 2012. Landan took a week off work to rebuild the engine in his car. It only took him two days. The rest of the week he just played a lot of play station but he also did play with the kids quite a bit. Football in the park was one of the favorites. Another favorite activity was playing hoops. Hurray! Landan finally put it up. I also cannot get enough of our view. Isn't it gorgeous? I decorated the porch for Fall. The picture doesn't do it justice. It looks really cute. One Option Is ...

Tall Tales from the Life of Lindsey Long Legs: September 2013

http://pandlfamily.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 26, 2013. Im really gonna eat my words. Charlie brings me to tears, often. I had the craziest day. I planned a cooking day with my friend to make freezer meals. We cooked from 9:30-1 pm and didn't even finish our four meals. Charlie slept on the counter top in his car seat from 9 until 12 when I fed him, and changed him. Then I threw him back in his car seat and drove to the biggest trailer event we have ever had. It was an utter disaster! At times I worry that maybe he is to calm&#46...

Saturday, July 25, 2015. Fairy tale, ghost story, and memento mori- is a work of eerie beauty and extraordinary craftsmanship, different from anything else I've seen. I'd say it's the kind of show that's unique to New York City, only its makers- a company called Manual Cinema. Is playing through July 26 at the Three Legged Dog. Art and Technology Center, 80 Greenwich Street, in New York City. After that, look for the show and its makers back in Chicago. Sunday, March 22, 2015. 8220;Help people, don&#8217...

A Place to Vent. Ugh – they brought back Fear Factor? January 7, 2012. Why are people so obsessed with watching other people do stupid things? Why should we care that someone will eat anything for money? Why should we watch someone meet and propose to someone they don’t know? I can’t believe how many reality shows are on the major networks. Monday, May 4, 2015. Before leaving for the mission field, I read a book called Third Culture Kids. Actually, I read it twice . . . . The first time the content scared me to much that I had to read it a second time to wrap my mind around the information and what the book was actually trying to say. After living in South Africa for 8 years, this is the first furlough where I'm beginning to see what this book is all about.
