Little trip to upstate. メモリアル・デーの三連休は、NY市から北へ2時間程車を走らせたアコードという町にある、娘と私の仲良しのお友達の別荘へ遊びに行ってきました。 緑と新鮮な空気、お日様の光、雨の恵み、のんびりしたつかの間の田舎暮らしを満喫。先月は日本にいる家族の病気など、プライベートで不安な局面が多々あり気持ちが塞ぎがちだったので、よい気分転換になりました. 土曜午前は森を散策、お目当ての滝は見つからなかったけど、明るい新緑のなんと清々しいこと！崖っぷちを歩いたり、ちょっとした冒険も。 それにしても、地元のお店はどこもこぢんまりしていて、いちいちかわいい。 日曜ものんびり気ままな時間に起きて、お友達の作ったチーズ・オムレツとトーストとお茶をベランダで。青い空にぽっかり浮かんだ白い雲がカタチを変えてゆく様を見ながら食べる朝ご飯の、なんて贅沢なこと！ 忙しない都市の生活も楽しいけれど、こういうのどかな時間ももっと大切にしなくては、と思った週末でした。 Links to this post. Thanks for stopping at my quiet blog. I'm a part-time editorial assistant, an Etsy shop. Owner, a designer/artist (a bib artist, according to my daughter), or whatever you want to think of me. Originally from Tokyo, I lived in Boston for 10 years after college, cultivated the liberal view there, then in 2009, moved to New York City with my family. I don't say the life in the city has always been easy, but it has certainly been interesting surrounded by a unique bunch of family, friends, and co-workers.

Wednesday, July 16, 2014. It's been a while since I killed off my nukadoko. Ah, don't worry, I didn't hurt anyone - I'm talking about probiotics. Is a traditional Japanese method of making pickles by preserving vegetables in a fermented rice bran bed called nukadoko. Though a bit different ingredients from mine, this article. Explains and shows the process of making nukadoko. After almost 7 years, I am starting my pickling life again - in my somewhat hardcore way. The rest is similar to the article above.

Sunday, January 4, 2015. 私は娘と大晦日のほとんどを飛行機の中で過ごし、晦日の夕方にNYに到着、荷ほどきしたあと、時差で夜7時には就寝。明け方3時頃にやはり時差ボケの娘と起き出すというスタートでした。 12月はお休みをとり、ほとんどを東京の実家でのんびり過ごしてきました。といっても東京はなんとなく忙しい街、私も普段は時間がなくてなかなか行けないお医者さんを受診したり、買い物をしたり、人と会ったりしている内にあっという間に過ぎてしまいました。 去年は夏に帰れなかったので、心待ちにしていた帰国。冬に帰ったのは3年ぶりでしたが、猛暑の夏より外出が苦でなく、よかったです。 でも、私にとって本当のハイライトは、たぶんいつも一緒。 だけど、予定を詰め込むとそんな時間が減ってしまいそうで、結局バタバタ忙しくなるのに、いつもギリギリまで友達にも連絡をしない。 12300;えー帰国してたんだ！早く言ってくれりゃいいのに！」って言われるの覚悟で。 なので、心ひろき我が友たちよ、また次もきっと突然電話すると思うのだけど、会ってもらえたら嬉しいです。 Links to this post.

Thursday, July 9, 2015. 本当はアナログに布にプリントしている時が一番楽しいのだけど、デザインに幅を出したいので、既存のモチーフを使いとりあえず一つは作ってみたい。 キャンプと言っても、ここは昼間だけ。共働きの親が多いアメリカでは、夏休みに子供をどうするかは課題。このキャンプは普段は放課後の学童保育をしている施設で、夏季は午前8時〜午後5時まで子供を預かって、プールや工作、外遊びなどをさせてくれる。うちは夏は主人が割と暇だけど、夫婦でフリーランスの身、いつ何時忙しくなるかわからない＋近くにヘルプを頼める実家もないので、夏の間なら平日いつでも使える10日間パックに申し込んでおいた。 Links to this post. Monday, October 20, 2014. 私の義母はメイン州の田舎に住んでいて、毎年夏になると自分達で摘んだ野生のブルーベリーを分けてくれるのです。今年の収穫量は、なんと95ポンドだったそう。約43キロ！よく摘んだね・・・. 主人が家に持ち帰る頃にはビニール袋の中で潰れたりして果汁もかなり出ているので、お菓子にそのまま入れるのには向きません。（マフィンなんかは生地が真っ青になってしまう）なので冷凍庫くさくなってしまう前に、今年はジャムする事に決定。 65308;ブルーベリー・ジャム＞. 初めは果汁でジャブジャブになったのでちゃんと粘度が出るのか心配になり、粉末ペクチンも無かったのでレモン果汁を絞った時に出たレモンの種を全部放り込んでみました。リンゴの芯や柑橘にはペクチンが多いそうで、確か以前、レモンの種の周りのヌルヌルがペクチンだって聞いたような覚えがあったもので。 65308;レモン・マヨネーズ＞. 65290;レモンの皮は表面の黄色い所をうっすら剝くようにして下さい。白い部分まで深く削り取ると苦いです。 Links to this post. I used IKEA's frozen gingerbread dough for the first time and pre-baked the cookies a day before with some help from Kiliko. The flavor is pretty good. This new humongous grocery store opened on Northern Blvd. We usually are not a huge fan of giant grocery stores, but this one has some unique variety of stuff in addition to regular grocery and we like it. Thursday, February 19, 2015. 先日、FBに写真を載せたところ、数人の人からレシピのリクエストがあったので。 廃刊になった「gourmet magazine」という料理雑誌が出した分厚い「The gourmet cookbook」にあったレシピを私が少し変えたものです。スタイリングと写真のセンスがいい、とても素敵な雑誌だったのに・・・立ち読みばかりして買わなかったことが今でも悔やまれます。 ショートブレッド生地の上にレモンのフィリングを乗せて焼いたこのお菓子、粉砂糖をかけるととてもちゃんとした、手のこんだもののようですが、実は割と簡単。私はボウル一つで作っています。 黄色とベージュの二層の色と粉砂糖の白が美しく、きっとおいしいミルクティーをいれて、イギリス風の花模様のカップ＆ソーサーでちょっとすまして頂きたくなると思いますよ。 65288;24個）｜所要時間30分（冷やす時間を入れると4時間40分くらい）. 塩 小さじ1/2. オーブンを 180℃に温め始める。 Links to this post.
