Race Report: 2009 Foot Traffic Flat half marathon | I'd Rather be Running

https://ratherberunning.wordpress.com/2009/07/04/race-report-2009-foot-traffic-flat-half-marathon

I'd Rather be Running. Run a lot. Mostly slow. Some fast. Race Report: 2009 Foot Traffic Flat half marathon. Foot Traffic Flat half official results. Start this morning: backing out of the garage I side-swiped a friend’s car. 8216;s the way to start off your race day. (Sweetie thinks the resulting adrenaline helped.) With the wanton destruction portion of the morning done with, I headed for Sauvie Island. It turned out to be five degrees cooler on the island! Was I sure I knew what I was doing? Like I sa...

I'd Rather be Running. Run a lot. Mostly slow. Some fast. Multnomah Falls to Larch Mountain and back. On Thursday, I hiked as fast as I could up to the top of Larch Mountain from the base of Multomah Falls, then ran back down. The highways at the base of the falls (it’s accessible from both I-84 and the Historic Columbia Gorge Highway) are at an elevation right around 50 feet. Sherrard Point. Eventually you leave the creek and head off into a section with some. There’s only a quarter-mile or so of ...

Race Report: 2012 Eugene Marathon | I'd Rather be Running

I'd Rather be Running. Run a lot. Mostly slow. Some fast. Race Report: 2012 Eugene Marathon. My training was compromised for this race. Even before I broke my toe, I had a long bout of Plantar Fasciitis. Then the toe took me totally out of running for six weeks, so I started building up again from scratch in early February. I did manage to do two 20-mile runs, but my weekly mileage was mostly under thirty, and my speed never recovered. Then I had a heck of a week leading up to the race:. For most of the ...

A small problem with my toe | I'd Rather be Running

https://ratherberunning.wordpress.com/2012/01/09/a-small-problem-with-my-toe

I'd Rather be Running. Run a lot. Mostly slow. Some fast. A small problem with my toe. Two days before Christmas, we were almost done unpacking the important stuff after moving to a new place. (For the first time in either of our lives, we’re actually living inside the Portland city limits! But that’s a story for another time.). Don’t ask me. Obviously, I can’t run either. I don’t know exactly how long I’ll be out — I’m supposed to go by how it feels. Six to eight we...This entry was posted on Monday, Ja...

http://pumped2run.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, May 29, 2008. Keep an eye on this kid ( Elijah Greer ). I'm just tapering right now so nothing exciting is really happening. so I thought I'ld tell you about what transpired at the recent OSAA Track and Field championships. Elijah Greer, a junior at Lake Oswego Highschool, who also happens to be a friend, ran an outstanding 800m race : 1:50.60 , which also happens to be a State Meet Record! Here's the Video (he's starting in lane 4). Links to this post. Friday, May 16, 2008. It may seem sheer i...

Here's The Incredible Video. I ran into my fast friend (Elijah Greer) at the Trials and got to chat with him for a while. I got inspired to put in the milage that I should be doing. I put in 115mi for the week, and. The feeling of the run was wierd. But eventually the fog lifted and I found myself running in the snow!

Saturday, April 26, 2008. Self-Transcendence Six and Ten Day Race 2008 - April 23 to May 3. Those of you who know me know I am fascinated with Multiday racing, especially the 6 day event. I love the history of the 6 day race: New York Times Article posted Dec. 2 1888 covering George Littlewood's World Record Performance. And more recent events: Yiannis Kouros running 643 miles in 6 days on 3 hours of sleep in 2005. If you also love the history of this sport, This Article. Links to this post. When I heard...

Tuesday, February 26, 2008. I was horrified at being recognized while picking out the skirt, but I still had to reply, “Yes.”. 8220;Are you Melody Lawson’s little brother, Tim? 8221; she inquired. She even knew my name! Part Two- Hagg Lake 50k. Steve “ Marathon Freak. Now the funniest thing happened while I was there; Olga. The race started, and we could not have asked for better weather:. Ultrarunner in Training: March 2008

http://pumped2run.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 19, 2008. Well I went into the race with high hopes, I wanted to aim for 200k within 24 hrs, but that wasn't going to happen. When we started, I was close to the front along with Steve for the first couple miles, but the front runners were rookies running too hard to last, so I slowed up and let them run ahead. I watched in dismay as Steve took off with them and I thought to myself, "He'll regret that later! My goals are higher than his, why is he running 8:30 miles! I didn't run any mor...

Ultrarunner in Training: October 2007

http://pumped2run.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 30, 2007. So I’ve been noticing my competitive side coming out…. Yesterday I went running with the Red Lizards. And we all started out at about a ten-minute mile pace, which to me felt slow. After about half a mile, I was feeling slightly impatient, I jumped up to the front of the pack and picked up the pace a little bit. A few other guys soon followed me in our faster pace, and we were soon pushing each other faster and faster. Until next time, keep running! Links to this post. One argu...

Ultrarunner in Training: September 2008

http://pumped2run.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 5, 2008. I had a couple days off work, so naturally I took off running in the Columbia River Gorge. It was a weekend of running, hiking, swimming, relaxing, playing, sweating, smiling, grimmacing, and enjoying the beautiful North West. Words wont do it justice, so I'll leave you with a couple videos and some of my favorite pictures I took. Leaves are already changing color! I did have some healthy stuff too). Enjoying being up there. Another view of the Sunset. I love it out here.

Paul, Gretchen, Pierce and Hope

Monday, August 10, 2015. The day we had been talking about for WEEKS, finally came. (Oh you know, back in JULY) The kids were up super early, bouncing around, screaming, and thanking me for "this opportunity." And you know, Holiday World is an opportunity! AN OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE FUN. My kids had never been, so I think they were just a little extra excited. Pierce and I didn't waste any time, and we were in life for his first coaster. But I wasn't gonna let that stop me. But the weather was perfect. The k...
