Wednesday, July 9, 2014. The Art of Zdzisław Beksiński. Prepare for mind fuckery, because this dude makes Giger look well-adjusted. There's a whole lot more where this came from, the dude is nothing if not prolific. Https:/ www.google.com/search? From the Ashes: September 2013
http://fromtheashesrpg.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 24, 2013. I'd Be Late To My Own Funeral. I just realized that I made my first post on this blog two years and two days ago. I definitely have not been a prolific poster of late, having only averaged six posts a month this year, but I feel like I'm getting back in stride after a rough beginning of the year. I've collected a good amount of art for From the Ashes, and although I'm struggling to fit the last few pieces of the puzzle into place, it should be coming soonish. Anyone struck su...

The Official Blog of The Fantasy Cartographic. Friday, December 13, 2013. Map Roundup - 13 December 2013. A long time ago, I tried to do Map Roundups. As often as I could. It was my mission to provide to you, my kindly readers, a roundup of all the cool mapping posts in the OSR blogosphere. Life got hectic, and I fell off the task. Tonight I came across two blog posts that required that I do a map roundup. Both come to us from Arkhein at Rather Gamey. I love astronomy so I really enjoyed this post. Somet...

Strange Magic: The Bard for Basic D&D
http://strangemagic.robertsongames.com/2012/03/bard-for-basic-d.html
Mar 27, 2012. The Bard for Basic D&D. In AD&D the Bard was a convoluted mess, and the designers seemed to recognize this and put it in the Appendixes as optional material. Go to level X in one class, change to another class, go to level X, change again etc. Honestly I don't know how many people actually levelled up a Bard in this manner compared to the number that were just created for one-shot high level adventures. Now, I know musicians would accompany an army. Ridiculous is just too much. Identify Mag...

Strange Magic: Those Damned Murderhobo PCs
http://strangemagic.robertsongames.com/2015/01/those-damned-murderhobo-pcs.html
Jan 16, 2015. Those Damned Murderhobo PCs. Recently I’ve seen a few discussions about Murderhobo players, and thought about ways to bring a bit more balance to the mayhem and encourage players to run characters a bit more in balance with regular people in the game world. And if they’re on the fence about what they want to do, it can make for some interesting roleplaying with Clerics… or perhaps a Devil that offers the players help that will steer them down the murderhobo path. 5 Tips for Horror in D&D.

Strange Magic: Streamlined Monster Entries
http://strangemagic.robertsongames.com/2015/01/streamlined-monster-entries.html
Jan 14, 2015. One of the things I like the best about OSR games is that the amount of information I need to filter through while prepping and running games is lower than in some other RPGs. While the added level of detail is often fun as a player, I find as a GM I like things a bit more streamlined. Saves as a 1st level fighter. That's only info I'd want if it didn't behave in the standard way. The Icon Style makes use of Font Awesome. Which is free to download. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). This a...

Thoughts about gaming, ideas for further development, background info on my campaign worlds, and direction I'm heading. and anything gaming-related I find online that interests me! Monday, May 13, 2013. We played in my son's game a few times, and then in my Traveller game a few times, and now I've been asked to run my OD&D again for this Friday night. Not too big a deal, I've been running the Milburn Hall campaign with the dice leading the way. Encountered orcs on the road to Kemper Village? Aeron Alfrey...
