Major Generalist: September 2008
http://majorgeneralist.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
The very model of a modern Major Generalist. Saturday, September 6, 2008. The Sarah Palin Abstinence Pledge. I'm still on hiatus, but in light of the nomination of the new Republican VP, Sarah Palin, I wanted to find a way to merge my point of view with hers when it comes to sex education. As a result, I have formulated a special lesbian oath. Feel free to repeat after me:. In an effort to support abstinence-only, I hereby pledge to abstain from heterosexual sex.". Major Generalist: Working in the Post-Loyalty Era Chock Full of Layoffs and Job Loss
http://majorgeneralist.blogspot.com/2010/04/working-in-post-loyalty-era-chock-full.html
The very model of a modern Major Generalist. Monday, April 26, 2010. Working in the Post-Loyalty Era Chock Full of Layoffs and Job Loss. At-will employment is the only game in town—your employer has the right to lay you off or fire you at any time regardless of whether you work full time or freelance (unless you have a contract that states otherwise). The only upside is that you have the same right and can quit without cause. Where did the loyalty go? You have to try to get over it. You are not your job.

Major Generalist: Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum vs. Hearst Castle
http://majorgeneralist.blogspot.com/2011/05/isabella-stewart-gardner-museum-vs.html
The very model of a modern Major Generalist. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum vs. Hearst Castle. I had the pleasure of visiting the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. In Boston this past weekend. As I walked around and mulled over this massive art, sculpture, book and ephemera collection, I couldn't help but compare it to the Hearst Castle. Which is by all means more grand in scale (although Isabella's museum is nothing to sneeze at), but somehow lacks the heart. Suggesting a link bet...

Major Generalist: Name this dead icon
http://majorgeneralist.blogspot.com/2009/06/name-this-dead-icon.html
The very model of a modern Major Generalist. Friday, June 26, 2009. Name this dead icon. My friend John H. enumerated something I was thinking last night. See if you can figure out who he's referring to. Early fame makes their life very difficult. Stars in movie version of the Oz story. Becomes a cult figure. Cannot seem to get out from under the yoke of crass promoters. Suffers from two decades of bad publicity. Dies abruptly around the age of 50 under suspicious, drug-related circumstances.

Major Generalist: October 2008
http://majorgeneralist.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
The very model of a modern Major Generalist. Monday, October 27, 2008. A fish out of water. As I buried my fish, I was struck by a thought: the only instance in which we were in the same physical space together, in the open air, was upon his death. A bowl on my end table, a fish never leaving water, never moving beyond the confines of the glass. There is sadness in that recognition of separation. As for me and my fish, there were messages sent and received despite the barriers of bowl and water. We "...

The very model of a modern Major Generalist. Thursday, May 29, 2008. Clay Aiken Impregnates Woman. She's 50. They're friends. It may be artificial. Wait, I do have a further comment. I realized who the mom is: Jaymes Foster-Levy. She was a judge on one of the early reality shows on the WB called Popstars. Which gave birth to the wildly popular girl band, Eden's Crush. Yeah, I didn't think so. Posted by Major Generalist. Wednesday, May 28, 2008. Drowned Barbies at Prince and Crosby in Soho, NY. The fisher...

The very model of a modern Major Generalist. Sunday, June 22, 2008. S&P 500 not a great place for short-term investments. And by short term investments, I mean 10 years or less. Take it from me: I've learned a lesson the hard way. I've been investing monthly in the Vanguard S&P 500 Index fund. For nine years, as a means to save up for a down payment on a home. Since statistics show that's the worst day of the week to sell). And Internet savings accounts. In the meantime, what can you do? What is your lif...
