One American in Sweden: Sensible Shoes
http://oneamericaninsweden.blogspot.com/2013/06/sensible-shoes-and-packing.html
Sunday, June 16, 2013. I was heading that way anyway because my daughter was looking for the worst 1990s high waisted shorts she could find. It's a trend. Girls love them. They cut them off and add rivets and studs. They look much nicer than the 1990's variety. Me: "I think I could spend $1000 dollars in here. Today.". Daughter: "I am 1000% finished. I am going to have a breakdown". Me: "You need to learn to compartmentalize better. Block it out.". January 23, 2014 at 11:04 PM. Nepal trekking, Helicopter...

One American in Sweden: September 2009
http://oneamericaninsweden.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Again With the Sweatpants. Standing in the line at the German grocers, Lidl, today in my sweats and running clothes I was again reminded of an episode of Seinfeld. The one where Jerry chastizes George for wearing sweats in public. He says to him, "You know the message you're sending out to the world with these sweatpants? You're telling the world, 'I give up. I can't compete in normal society. I'm miserable, so I might as well be comfortable.". Links to this post. I have re...

One American in Sweden: Hammarby Sjöstad
http://oneamericaninsweden.blogspot.com/2013/06/hammarby-sjostad.html
Wednesday, June 26, 2013. I spent the morning visiting a friend who now lives in Hammarby Sjöstad. It is an area outside the city that I have never visited. Always up to see something new and to have a reason to take the train to far away stops I have never had a reason to visit, I was very game when she suggested to take the train out to see her rather than her come into the city. January 23, 2014 at 11:03 PM. That you have been dream with Acute trek is part of your choice. We have your choose of tr...

One American in Sweden: April 2010
http://oneamericaninsweden.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 30, 2010. So many times i've wondered where i've gone. And how i found my way back in. I look around awhile for something lost. Maybe i'll find it in the en. Thoughts of selling Texas Tacos to expats on the beaches of Belize invade my thoughts. Going back to a more globalist socialist by the hour America just does not appeal to me. I feel like a (counter) revolutionary in exile and like Lenin in Zurich accomplishing nearly as little. Conversely, Rand, Burke, Paine, Voltaire, Jef...Sometimes...

One American in Sweden: February 2010

Monday, February 22, 2010. Sometimes the Clothes Do Make the Man. In the NUDE, all that is not beautiful is obscene. In summary, people who shouldn't subject us to their nudity:. 1 Anyone over 50. 2 Anyone who does not routinely groom their pubic hair. (from my observations at the gym this pretty much leaves most European women out). 3 Anyone whose breasts are at the same level as their knees. 4 Anyone who is just badly proportioned. I am just thankful she was facing the lockers. Whatever it was, it coul...

One American in Sweden: May 2010
http://oneamericaninsweden.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 30, 2010. However, I found the concept pretty cool. Between acts they would show families from the countries in their apartment living rooms so it showed a little of how they lived. Sometimes they were dressed in traditional clothing (Ukraine) and sometimes they would show the different foods they were snacking on while watching Eurovision and rooting for their country. They would show the different flags and for a non-European all that is sort of fascinating. Links to this post. You are prob...

One American in Sweden: November 2009
http://oneamericaninsweden.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 27, 2009. One Smelly Cannoli in the Gym. I am in the gym, doing my thing. The gym is small. These are old buildings so they have been converted into many things that they were never intended for. The gym has several rooms that kind of meander around in a jig saw puzzle kind of way. There is a particular section that is probably the size of a large bedroom that people use to stretch, do sit-ups, etc. This was a few days ago but today I saw the kid again. Of course, now when I see him,...

One American in Sweden: Man Bites Dog
http://oneamericaninsweden.blogspot.com/2013/07/man-bites-dog.html
Saturday, July 6, 2013. With their snoots in the air,. The Star-Bellies would sniff and they'd snort. We'll have nothing to do with the Plain-Belly sort! Let's face it, all the wanna be communists now reside in the United States but let me redirect myself from this rant. Similarly, I noticed when my friend would state she lived in Kungsholmen she would not get the same comments and nods of approval. Strange, right? What are you looking for? I have never been". I am sure there are plenty more but you get ...

One American in Sweden: T Minus 14 Hours
http://oneamericaninsweden.blogspot.com/2013/06/t-minus-14-hours.html
Thursday, June 20, 2013. T Minus 14 Hours. When we went to Rome we flew out of Stockholm on Ryan Air at 6:00. This meant we had to be up at 2:00 to get to T-Centralen to catch a bus to get way out into the countryside to that airport that services Ryan Air. A completely memorable experience. Planes to busses to ferries to more busses to get to destinations. There is a long line of similarly painful experiences I have subjected myself to and, in retrospect, I would not have had it any other way. That you ...
