Carolina on the Vine. A blog about North Carolina wine. In Watauga and Ashe counties. Asymp; Leave a comment. Although my trip to the North Carolina mountains earlier this week was a short one, less than 24 hours, I did have time for a quick visit to Grandfather Vineyard Winery. The vibe is laid-back and rustic, reflective of the relaxed mountain lifestyle of the region. Prior to moving to Charlotte, I lived in the area for 10 years and that is one of the things I miss most about living there. Follow Blo...

Carolina on the Vine. A blog about North Carolina wine. Owl’s Eye Vineyard and Winery. Asymp; 2 Comments. As someone with a background in Marketing, I am conscious of the branding and messaging for the products and services with which I come in contact. Upon entering the tasting room of the Owl’s Eye Vineyard and Winery. In Shelby, NC. I was intrigued by their logo and wondering from where the name came. When we did our tasting, we were told the story behind the brand. In Watauga and Ashe counties. The v...

Carolina on the Vine. A blog about North Carolina wine. Stayed tuned for Quebec wines. Asymp; Leave a comment. I can’t believe it has been more than 1 month since I’ve written my last post. This past month has been very busy. First, I accepted a full-time job offer and began work one week after receiving the offer – not a lot of time to get ready to say the least. My first week on the job was spent touring Oregon and the plants my company has located throughout several cities. Drinking Cider in Quebec.

North Carolina Wine Notes: RayLen Shiraz 2006 Update
http://ncwinotes.blogspot.com/2008/08/raylen-shiraz-2006-update.html
North Carolina Wine Notes. One man's tasting notes of wines in the Tarheel State. Saturday, August 9, 2008. On the way to Lake Norman, we stopped in at Snook's Barbeque. Naturally, we had to grab some wine to go with our 'cue, so I got a bottle of Shiraz and one of Cab Franc. This wine, somewhat spicy and smoky, is indeed a great partner to a pulled pork sandwich. That elusive menthol note helps the wine go with food. It also helps that the sun is shining, and I'm sitting next to a lake. I bought a bottle.

Take Memories and Leave Footprints: May 2015
http://takememoriesandleavefootprints.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Take Memories and Leave Footprints. Monday, May 25, 2015. Yadkin Valley and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. One note: we tend to be dry wine drinkers and strongly prefer reds. If you like sweet wines, NC usually has a great variety of these, including their signature muscadine wines. Our first winery was Hanover Park Vineyards. View from the garden. Our second stop of the day was Misty Creek Vineyards. View from the tasting room. Our favorite winery of the trip was RayLen Vineyards. Walking to the pool.
