The adventures of the hooks. Saturday, May 17, 2014. And the sad (or is it good? Reality is, it's true. I mean, I can go back and read the archives of this blog and remember some of the things I did before kids. But I can hardly remember the feeling of only being in charge of myself. Even in this challenging, consuming, exhausting season with two littles and a newborn, I am thankful for the gift of Motherhood. Our day this year was simple: BBQ on the back patio. And a few jammie snuggles before bed.

We strategically crammed sixteen children under the age of eight into a five bedroom-ish VBRO in Sandpoint and spent three days enjoying pure chaos. The nature of this kind of trip - in this stage of life - is not relaxing. I repeat: not relaxing. I've heard it defined that a trip with kids. Is a trip. A trip without kids. Is a vacation. The adventures of the hooks. Tuesday, May 28, 2013. This year we headed west for Memorial Day weekend - first to Seattle for a brief work trip and then to Portland for the rest of the long weekend. The timing for the trip was slightly stressful but perfect. After battling lice for about six days, I was ready to be done with it all. I performed some very thorough head checks and packed our bags full of only sanitize cycle laundered clothes. Four quadrants of berry goodness. Caleb and Harper, two blondies.
