Tell Me a Dragon | Reading Is Our Thing

http://www.readingisourthing.com/portfolio/1022

Tell Me a Dragon. The dragon egg illustration that you see behind the book is the opening end papers. At the close, eggs have begun to hatch. Text on each page is a short sentence or two. Rather poetic and could act as story prompts. Morris’ illustrations have us mesmerised. There’s no specific time or place, they exist within fantasy, within our dreams. Published by Frances Lincoln Children’s Books. 2017 Reading Is Our Thing.

An Artist’s Alphabet | Reading Is Our Thing

Artistic. Beautiful. Clever. Delightful. Elegant. Fascinating. I could go on all the way to Z. Norman Messenger’s work leaves one enchanted. I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating I’m completely astonished by the array of outstanding alphabet books on offer, and this one is among our favourites, because of its beauty and because of its playful discountenance. Published by Walker Books. 2017 Reading Is Our Thing.

We’ve put together a list of Picture Book Sheroes that are sure to inspire both girls AND boys. These female characters may live within the realm of fiction, but they’re very real to us. We’re motivated by their courage and vibrancy. Their stories become a part of our own. Bloom, by Doreen Cronin and David Small. Published by Atheneum/Caitlyn Dlouhy Books. Hazza Boy | Reading Is Our Thing

http://www.readingisourthing.com/contributors/hazza-boy

When I’d just turned 7, I illustrated a little poem that my mum wrote as part of a Collabo. Project called, I Wish I Was After reading the poem, I thought about what I wanted to draw for each verse. I used black ink pen on white paper, then we took a photo of my drawing, and coloured it using an app on our iPad. This is the finished project. I wish I was a lone pirate,. Who sailed the endless blue. I’d find a forgotten island,. And the gold of Captain Skiddoo. I wish I was an acrobat,.

Two in a Tepee. Celebrating the best in children's storytelling and illustration. Over the Ocean by Taro Gomi. September 2, 2016. The spare text lets us know she is meditating on what is beyond. The space above the horizon in each spread becomes the site of imagining. “Are there farms over the ocean? Maybe there are big farms. Maybe there are cities over the ocean. Full of tall buildings…or small houses. Maybe there are kids living there. Are they all friends? Is someone walking along it? Here's what you...

Practice; excel; achieve, but never forget where you have come from. Take a little “Jenny from the Block” and mix it with some Lao Tzu (“When you realise there is nothing lacking the world belongs to you”). What do you get? Reading For Fun... not homework

Reading For Fun. not homework. Welcome to Adam's reading club website. My name is Adam and I am in year 6. I have made this website to change the way students are made to think about reading. We are given reading as "homework", but I think this is wrong. Reading is about escaping into a world of pure imagination and revelling in it. being forced can take away all the fun. I am starting up bookclubs at schools in NSW for students who want to read things they like, not things they are told to.

My Love for Reading Keeps Growing

My Love for Reading Keeps Growing. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. REVIEW FOR - DRAWN IN - BY SIOUX TRETT. Pic and description taken from Goodreads. Serenity Winters is taking the summer off. After her last year included crushing on the wrong guy (again), having her best friend move all the way across the country, and an unexpected loss she's still not prepared to deal with, she deserves it. And a visit to see Maia in California seems like the perfect getaway. Beaches, bonfires and boys? MY REVIEW / THOUGHTS:.
