We focus our interventions on three basic models: Early Steps, Next Steps and Higher Steps. These researched based reading programs originated with Dr. Kathleen Brown at the University of Utah. Dr. Brown and her cohorts trained and certified our Teaching Assistants. South Elementary has seen great success with students who have been tutored using these intervention programs. I grew up in a family of teachers! My father was a professor at Weber State University. My mother was a guidance counselor in Weber School District. My sister taught 4th grade in the district too. There really wasn’t a big decision for me to make about being a teacher! I started my teaching career in the Weber County School District. I taught second and third grades.
