Reading with Mrs. D

Grade One reading, writing, math and arts! Monday, August 17, 2015. Playground game: Mirror Me. I had an interview for an afterschool position at a downtown school, and in the parking lot I spotted this painted game I'd never seen before! I think it looks awesome. Here's how I assume you play it:. Lead student stands on foot prints below the words, and up to 3 other students stand on opposite footprints. Lead student plays a version of Simon says! I wish we had this! Posted by Mrs D. Posted by Mrs D.

Reading with Mrs. D: Water day/Fire Day

http://www.readingwithmissd.blogspot.com/2015/08/water-dayfire-day.html

Grade One reading, writing, math and arts! Monday, August 3, 2015. The last day of School in June we had our annual water day. The younger grades played water games in the back of the school with soap and bubbles in a few pools and tubs, and a homemade waterslide on a tarp. The highlight of the event for the kids is when staff go up on the roof and hurl water balloons at them. However, the fun was cut short. I'm grateful that the community is safe, and the evacuation order is lifted, however it is expect...

My Whole Brain Blog. The lived experience of a practitioner of Whole Brain Teaching. Monday, May 28, 2012. The year is winding down but WBT goes on.This is the last week for our students and they've already displayed some antsy behaviors. Thank goodness for the Super Improvers Wall! It's time for our end of year evaluations and I'm including use of the SIW, Teach! One of the things I'll be giving a lot of thought to this summer will be the best way to track and document the academic practices such as Yes!

Relative Resolution: Telling my Story. Sunday, August 19, 2012. Today I traded my food with strangers' food. It was my first time. I am already imagining and anticipating the next time. I joined a Food Swap. I posted on my friend's facebook status after my initial inquiry of interest. Oh, someone will, she assured me. As a special treat, the author of the book Food in Jars. http://relativeresolution.blogspot.com/2012/07/community-garden.html

Relative Resolution: Telling my Story. Saturday, July 14, 2012. How will we regulate watering? What will you plant? After the initial planting and weeding visits came the daily watering errands. The first one was a chore: find enough hose to reach the far yard behind the church, locate the missing spigot handle, figure out the sprinkler. I'll be right there,. And now whenever we see each other we use the same tone and words to greet each other. From this endeavor I intended to reap the benefit of fresh g...

Perhaps I am just as opinionated as she because I won the argument. So on Friday we embarked on our trek - Marilyn, my kids, and I - to grandma's hometown. The elephant vine is still crawling up the side of the house! There is no shame in aging in this crowd! They joked about their false teeth and orthopedic su...

One Mom's Journey through Children's Literature. Waiting List (Books We Want to Read). Mom & Me Book Club. Five Little Monkeys Sitting In A Tree by Eileen Christelow. May 8, 2015. May 9, 2015. I knew this book would be a hit because C is already familiar with the song “5 Little Monkeys Jumping On the Bed.” I was pleasantly surprised that there was more to the story than just changing the words slightly from the original ‘jumping on the bed’ song.
