Reading, 'Riting, and Reality: July 2010

http://readwritereal.blogspot.com/2010/07

Reading, 'Riting, and Reality. The brain dump of a middle school teacher. Friday, July 30, 2010. Out of curiosity, I threw my blog URL into Wordle.net. If you've never used this time-consuming site, take a look! It creates tag clouds in which the most frequently-used words are larger. The result irritated me, because one of the largest words turned out to be "just," hereafter referred to as . I hate that word. Do I really use it that often? Do I express myself this way? Like, OMG, dat would be hella bad!

Reading, 'Riting, and Reality: Being a Student

http://readwritereal.blogspot.com/2010/07/being-student.html

Reading, 'Riting, and Reality. The brain dump of a middle school teacher. Monday, July 19, 2010. I spent the last 2 weeks in some fairly intense classes. Aside from content, here's what I liked about them:. Grades weren't a big deal. No homework. Well, there were assignments and presentations, but it didn't feel like homework. We were allowed, even encouraged to multi-task. Laptops and cell phones weren't forbidden, and they set up chat boards and forums for us to use. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Reading, 'Riting, and Reality: January 2011

http://readwritereal.blogspot.com/2011/01

Reading, 'Riting, and Reality. The brain dump of a middle school teacher. Sunday, January 23, 2011. We're getting ready to read the Young Reader's Edition of Three Cups of Tea. I first read the adult version last summer, and was inspired and excited to read it with my students. But our school wasn't started by a bunch of people from the outside coming in and "saving" the community, it was started by a group of parents, teachers, and community members who wanted something better for their children.

Reading, 'Riting, and Reality: Warm Fuzzies

http://readwritereal.blogspot.com/2010/08/warm-fuzzies.html

Reading, 'Riting, and Reality. The brain dump of a middle school teacher. Friday, August 13, 2010. The kids are here! Summer Orientation started on Wednesday! About 60 of our 96 new 6th graders are learning the mysteries of switching classes, completing homework, and (gulp) changing in the locker rooms. My brain is too addled to put together any coherent description of the last three days, but I have to say this:. Now I'm going to eat. August 15, 2010 at 7:16 AM. Some parents had bad experiences when the...

Reading, 'Riting, and Reality: Thievery and Plagiarism

http://readwritereal.blogspot.com/2010/07/thievery-and-plagiarism.html

Reading, 'Riting, and Reality. The brain dump of a middle school teacher. Wednesday, July 28, 2010. It's tempting to delete this post right now, because it proves just how lazy I am. Yesterday, when I was linking to one of my blog posts, I didn't want to go through the two or three steps to type in my blog address and search for the post. Instead, I googled a unique phrase so that I could go directly to the page. That was my blog post. So, what do you think? What's the deal with pages like this?

READ WRITE PUBLISH

READ WRITE PUBLISH is a conversation about the past, present and future of publishing. Never has publishing, as an activity, been so much part of our lives and never has publishing as an industry been so disconnected. But there is a new form of publishing emerging, one I have called Social Publishing, that invites readers to participate in the publishing process. READ WRITE PUBLISH is about Social Publishing but it is also a Social Publishing project: so I am inviting you to take part! Alternatively you ...

Read. Write. Ramble.

Saturday, January 3, 2015. Where I've Been (Megan). Hey everyone, it's been a very long time. Ridiculously long actually, and I suck for how much I've been neglecting this blog. Rachel posted before about why she's been absent and I owe you an explanation too. Books used to make me literally jump up and down screaming and I would be so indescribably happy when I blogged. Those feelings are still there, but they're muted. It's the only word I can think of to describe it. So my "jar" is technically a turtl...

Read, Write, Recommend

February 15, 2016. Only a Few More Days to Go. Maybe. As the last week of my Facebook rehab ticks by, I've found myself not really anticipating the end of the 70-day experience, but rather dreading it. If I can resist the gravitational pull of Facebook, then why am I still dreading the end of my fast? Because people will expect me to be there and to be reachable at all times. Yes, even my friends who know that I'm writing, working a part-time job, and running two businesses still expect me to respond to ...

Reading, Writing, Reform! | following the political progress of education reform

Reading, Writing, Reform! December 19, 2009 · 6:06 pm. Reform is Approved in Michigan. Today Detroit News announced on their webpage. That Michigan legislators passed education reform, which allows them to qualify for the $400 million up for contention in the Race to the Top campaign. I have to wonder what these schools will have to offer in order to convince students who weren’t interested in attending a regular high school in the first place. December 5, 2009 · 10:05 pm.
