Quilter's Block: February 2012
http://quilters-block.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 27, 2012. The love of a grandmother! Every quilt needs a label and this one I found at the Embroidery Library. I inserted into the design the special little girl's name that the quilt was created for, my granddaughter Rachel Emma. I am enjoying trying out my new skills I learned in classes at the Red Deer Sewing Centre. The file is then saved and transferred to the embroidery machine and stitched out. I find the software to be similar (but a little more complex) to Microsoft's Publisher.

Quilter's Block: Finally another place for inspiration.
http://quilters-block.blogspot.com/2013/02/finally-another-place-for-inspiration.html
Saturday, February 2, 2013. Finally another place for inspiration. In Oshawa - right off the 401. Over the past few weeks I found a quilt shop on line that I have been able to explore in Oshawa. In fact the web presence of this store is very impressive! So I was anxious to see if what they said on their web site was true in our experience. Here's a smart idea - the foot and an example of its use. A nice selection of fabrics. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Red Deer Sewing Centre. Sugar Pine - Canmore.

Quilter's Block: The Quilting Gnome
http://quilters-block.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-quilting-gnome.html
Monday, January 21, 2013. I've discovered another nice, but small, quilt shop in our area. While the city seems to have disappointed me in customer service, quality and selection, outside the city has provided some good surprises. The small town of Jackson's Point is home to the Quilting Gnome. Once again it seems quilters and quilt shop owners are very aware of the great quilt shops in Alberta. We had a good chat with the owner of The Quilting Gnome. Just mention Canmore and her eyes light up! Gorgeous ...

Quilter's Block: Christmas Quilt from fabric panel
http://quilters-block.blogspot.com/2011/02/christmas-quilt-from-fabric-panel.html
Tuesday, February 1, 2011. Christmas Quilt from fabric panel. Since I began to quilt I have wanted to incorporate embroidery into my projects. Last year I was fortunate enough to finally save up enough money to buy myself an embroidery machine. After practicing for some time I felt adequate enough to bring quilting and embroidery together. A snowflake embroidered on the quilt. A beautiful cardinal and the emboridery. It was wonderfully satisfying to see this come together nicely. Embroidery on the edge.

Quilter's Block: Finally - a post from Ontario
http://quilters-block.blogspot.com/2012/01/finally-post-from-ontario.html
Sunday, January 8, 2012. Finally - a post from Ontario. When we lived in Alberta I knew many quilt shops and frequented the ones I liked on a regular basis, sometimes just to look for inspiration and not necessarily to buy! Finding a quilting community here has been a struggle. It doesn't seem to be as obvious, and it sure isn't the same. Some days I long for my favourite shops! I have found a couple of shops now that deal with Janome machines - things are looking up! January 9, 2012 at 2:10 PM. Red Deer...
