The Overflow Life: April 2015
http://theoverflowlife.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 26, 2015. On the plane back from San Antonio, I sat next to Kariston (I believe that is how she spelled it) who was on her way to her fiancee's funeral who lost his life rolling his truck the previous week. She also told me she was pregnant with his child. I hope I was just a brief bit of grace for this young woman. Sunday, April 12, 2015. Sunday, April 5, 2015. The Zamperini Story After Chapter 37. What healed him was grace. Jesus Christ was broken in an even greater way. His undes...We ju...

The Overflow Life: What if My Thoughts Were Mic'd Up
http://theoverflowlife.blogspot.com/2015/05/what-if-my-thoughts-were-micd-up.html
Sunday, May 31, 2015. What if My Thoughts Were Mic'd Up. Lebron James was mic'd up during the recent round of the NBA playoffs. While there are moments where he may be kind of playing up to the mic (the pregnant woman comment for instance), I do think we see Lebron's leadership front and center. Very happy he is back in Cleveland (where he belongs). Calling someone (under my breath) a "f- - ass- - " who almost cut me off on the trail. Lusting over the scantily clad girl in Panera. I get heaven - God judi...

The Overflow Life: January 2015
http://theoverflowlife.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 25, 2015. Did God Help Seattle Win? Russell Wilson gave tribute to God and even intimated that God helped/enabled the Seahawks defeat the Packers last week. I admire that Russell Wilson gave glory to God in this post-game interview. I certainly appreciate that more than guys who thump their chest after making a big play. Did God enable Seattle to win? I can't think of a single Bible verse that references competition between. Parties. The domain of athletic contests is more based on pr...

The Overflow Life: September 2014
http://theoverflowlife.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 28, 2014. We own a 13 year old dog named Maxwell who has to be one of the greatest dogs of all time. He is obedient, smart, sensitive, and fun. As he is getting up there in age, I dread the day we have to put him down. I have had a lot of good dogs and he has to be the best. Max does not do a lot wrong. My dad once owned a dog Xena which was completely incontinent. That dog routinely pooped on the carpet. When we visited them, you really had to watch where you were stepping....A life th...

The Overflow Life: Are Storms Predictable?
http://theoverflowlife.blogspot.com/2015/06/are-storms-predictable.html
Sunday, June 14, 2015. This summer seems to be especially unpredictable when it comes to rain showers. Seems like they are popping up every day. I wanted to get on my bike and it had just rained today. So I popped up my trusty Weather Channel app and looked at the weather by hour which looked like this. We wish that trials were like this. God tells us that trials come. In fact 100% of people experience trials. God says in James 1:2 to "consider it all joy when. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I follo...

The Overflow Life: Thoughts On My Friend George
http://theoverflowlife.blogspot.com/2015/07/thoughts-on-my-friend-george.html
Sunday, July 12, 2015. Thoughts On My Friend George. George Cull was ushered into the presence of the Lord Jesus last Monday night. George was 84 and had a number of physical issues related to his heart primarily so this was not a surprise. In fact George had a defibrillator that would shock his heart every time that his heart would stop. There were several times where George actually died and was shocked back to life. I spent two years with George most every week as part of our CLC. Yeah, Yeah, I Know.

The Overflow Life: November 2014

Sunday, November 30, 2014. Because it appeals to our sense of paying for something rather than giving something. Sunday, November 23, 2014. Great Expectations. Disappointing. Sunday, November 16, 2014. I like to say I have 12 offices to make it sound like I really am a big shot. But then I say my offices are at Panera in Brecksville, Panera in Solon, Panera in Hudson, etc. A lot of people do their work at these coffee shops. Or where we are in a gathering and we have a name tag like the one above to try ...

The Overflow Life: October 2014
http://theoverflowlife.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 26, 2014. I am not much of a singer. I have an ok voice that breaks down easily into falsetto and mismatched notes. Earlier in my life, I sang in the church choir (when we attended much smaller churches), but I was never quite comfortable. I can only barely read music and am very reliant on being by someone else who can. Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord. Always giving thanks fo...

Blue Like Jazz, or Red Like Blood? Check Out Red Like Blood. Hi…this is Bob Bevington. Joe Coffey and I wrote. Together. We basically split each chapter in half, taking turns telling our very different stories as honestly as we can and still have it be printable. We also take turns posting on our blog. Anyway, Joe got to talk to you in that video on the home page. But I usually look like a lost puppy on camera so I’m putting in my 2 cents here. This is my quick take on why we wrote the book. I can get on...
