Reflections of a Running Reverend

Reflections of a Running Reverend. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Come Run With Me. Again. This blogpost is almost a repeat of the one I wrote exactly a year ago: Come Run With Me. On Sunday, August 16, I will again be running the 49K Ultra Marathon of the Big Wild Life Runs. And just like last year, my plan is to do it again as a prayer run. My goal is to stay healthy and fit enough to do this every year during my tenure as Superintendent. Here's a mile-by-mile breakdown of my prayer run:. Mile 13: Homer UMC.

Reflections of a Running Reverend: Prayer Run: For Those In Between

http://reflectionsofarunningrev.blogspot.com/2015/05/prayer-run-for-those-in-between.html

Reflections of a Running Reverend. Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Prayer Run: For Those In Between. My bib from doing the same race two years ago. I'm running a half marathon. This weekend. I'm using it as a training run for the full marathon. I am doing next month. And as I have done in previous races, I will again be doing it as a prayer run. Half of a marathon. 13.1 of 26.2 miles. Halfway to a goal. In between. Midway. For those who are in between jobs. For those in the middle of major projects in life. I wil...

Reflections of a Running Reverend: Called to be Bees

http://reflectionsofarunningrev.blogspot.com/2015/05/called-to-be-bees.html

Reflections of a Running Reverend. Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Called to be Bees. Trees are budding and flowers are starting to bloom here in Anchorage. Its beautiful! And because the flowers are blooming, the bees are starting to get busy. Notice the bees in springtime. They do not stay in one place more than they should. They spend time on one flower, do what they need to do, leave what they need to leave, take what they need to take, and move on to the next bloom. I think we can learn from these busy bees.

Reflections of a Running Reverend: February 2015

http://reflectionsofarunningrev.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Reflections of a Running Reverend. Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Giving up Anger and Bitterness (1st in a series). So what are you giving up for Lent this year? What if we are called to give up something more than just chocolate? In the next five weeks, I am going to explore with you aspects of our lives that God may be calling us to give up beyond the coffee and the soda. Lent is really about giving up the things that hinder, the things that block, the things that prevent change and growth and new life.

Reflections of a Running Reverend: October 2014

http://reflectionsofarunningrev.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Reflections of a Running Reverend. Tuesday, October 21, 2014. One of the things we enjoy in our new house is the front balcony on the second floor. From there we watch the rain or the snow fall, wait for the northern lights, admire the views and observe what's going on in the neighborhood. Our older son loves how he can wave and say "hi" to friends who are passing by. It pays to be decisive. But decisive does not mean impulsive. May we take time to sit or stand in the balcony more often. Ther...October i...

Reflections of a Running Reverend: July 2015

http://reflectionsofarunningrev.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Reflections of a Running Reverend. Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Flight #1 Has Landed. I have been in Western Jurisdictional meetings here in Portland, Oregon since Friday last week. It's been a long weekend of meetings. Fruitful and productive, of course. But long. There's nothing like a nice, long run to decompress after a long weekend of meetings. I reflected on the scene I just saw: a plane landing. Beginning tonight, my family and I are going on a much needed vacation and time away. I have served ...Carlo...

Reflections of a Runner | My diary as a wannabe runner

Reflections of a Runner. My diary as a wannabe runner. 2º Xmas Night Trail – First trail run! Posted by Reflections of a Runner. The 7th of December was my first season event; well in the matter of fact was my first ever! And it was great, superb trail signalization, traffic control on main roads (the trail was a mix of forest and urban trails, as well as city streets). The staff was friendly and informative, food at supply stations and at the end was plenty and tasty. The course was very interesting in ...

REFLECTIONS

My blog is based on my personal reflections as a seventy year-old Catholic. Monday, 17 August 2015. How dangerous is satan and his evil spirit, to the welfare of the catholic faith, in today’s world. Most information we have comes from the bible. We are told he was present many times in the garden of Eden, and later on in the book of Job. In the New Testament,. His encounters with Christ is well documented. The temptations of Christ in the desert and in the garden of Gethsemane. Yet more serious, is the ...

Reflections of a shallow pond

Thursday, July 23, 2015. Seeing the Ocean for the Macaroni. What's a good term for my situation? Nah, too dramatic. It could be more of a midlife malaise, only that would imply I'll live to be 104, which would be fantastic. Problem is, if I'm currently peeing every morning in five languid installments, by the century mark I'll need a tasteful prostate pram to wheel around that leathery gland that partially popped free of my body in 2038. My younger daughter was a bubbling aquifer of verbal treasures:.
