Reflective Discontent: an artist's journal

Reflective Discontent: an artist's journal. Friday, 3 April 2015. One of the best things about art school is that you get to know and love a bunch of new, exciting and creative people who form a network for sharing ideas, mutual support and collaboration long after the course finishes. One of my best friends and collaborators from art school, Elly Langlois. Is mid-way through a six-month residency at In-Situ. To go and spend a few days with Elly in The North. At the end of the day we retired to 'The Shop...

Reflective Discontent: an artist's journal. Friday, 30 August 2013. The hosed-down chamfered concrete pleases him. He'll wait a while before he kills the light. On the cleaned-up yard, its pails and farrowing crate,. And the cast-iron pump immobile as a herm. Upstanding elsewhere, in another time. More and more this last look in the wet. Shine of the place is what means most to him -. And to repeat the phrase, 'My head is light',. Because it often is as he reaches back. Wednesday, 28 August 2013. May the...

Reflective Discontent: an artist's journal. Sunday, 24 February 2013. A heavily cropped shot gives a blurry picture but you can see the distinctive yellow and black bill pattern - the yellow coming down to a point. (By comparison, the Bewick's Swan has a smaller and more rounded area of yellow on its black bill and our native Mute Swan has an orange and black bill, with a black nob on top, just in case anybody was wondering). Saturday, 23 February 2013. Searching, always' exhibition. In this shot the fer...

Reflective Discontent: an artist's journal. Wednesday, 29 May 2013. Never Stop Exploring' - an exhibition goes up and comes down again. Regular readers of this blog - all three of you :) - might remember I wrote about the first phase of 'Never Stop Exploring' HERE. In that first phase, forty-two of my works, relics, and by-products, were selected at random, numbered 1-42, and exhibited together in a random sequence (generated on www.random.org. The work displayed comprised the work created by the 42 arti...

Reflective Discontent: an artist's journal: December 2014

http://reflectivediscontent.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Reflective Discontent: an artist's journal. Monday, 29 December 2014. Searching for The Grit. The post-Christmas sunshine gave the rare opportunity for a morning walk around the 'green block' - a two mile circular walk from my front door across the border into Hampshire and back into Berkshire. A flock of Fieldfare flies over, and in the distance a Buzzard is circling. I'm thinking about this in relation to an interview with Marina Abramovic I read in Third Way magazine over the Christmas break:. Ambigui...

An almost doctor's blog | musings about life on the wards

An almost doctor's blog. Musings about life on the wards. Posted November 27, 2010 by reflectivedoc. Yes I have my first job to look forward to on Monday. Finally I am a doctor… Stepping into the unknown. There have been many many forms to fill in and sign my life away. There are many organisations to join up (expensive membership fees! My colleagues have their annual leaves approved even before they start… gosh I have to catch up. Thanks for reading my blog on final year medical student experiences.
