Relearning The Wheel

Investigation, Experimentation, and Modification. On Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Projects have been done the past couple months and forgotten along the way. Here is one I remember: I bought a number of wool sweaters on Dollar Day at the thrift store, and cut them up for felting. The cuffs and scrap pieces I rolled into balls, and stitched closed. Now I've got wool dryer balls! I also bought fermenting grains from Cultures for Health for the first time. I tried making water kefir. On Wednesday, March 18, 2015.

Relearning The Wheel: Day 25 of 30

http://www.relearningthewheel.blogspot.com/2015/02/day-25-of-30.html

Investigation, Experimentation, and Modification. Day 25 of 30. On Sunday, February 22, 2015. We are finally nearing the end of this blasted Whole30 diet. I can do it, but I'm tired of it. I think my body is calling out for variety. I'm ready to bake treats and eat hummus again. Today I decided to start eating raw cheese after getting fired up listening to a Sally Fallon podcast, but I will otherwise continue the diet for the next 5 days. Homemade beet chips with guacamole. So much flavor! In a moment of...

Relearning The Wheel: August 2014

http://www.relearningthewheel.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Investigation, Experimentation, and Modification. Fermentation Initiation: Kefir and Soda. On Sunday, August 31, 2014. My soda-a.k.a.-pop-loving spouse had not been swayed from his devotion to carbonated sweets by my kombucha or water kefir, but when I showed him this recipe for fermented Blackberry Soda. Then he picked a half-gallon of wild blackberries and followed this recipe,. Using whey from my homemade yogurt as the culture. After 3 days of sitting, it was ready. It's delicious. 1 c sea salt. Our r...

Relearning The Wheel: Home Remedies

http://www.relearningthewheel.blogspot.com/2015/01/home-remedies.html

Investigation, Experimentation, and Modification. On Wednesday, January 28, 2015. 1 Recently I had the beginning of a canker sore. Inside my mouth. Usually, this would get progressively worse over about 3 days and then last a week. This time, I started swishing a teaspoon of coconut oil around in my mouth for 15 minutes as soon as I got up, and by day 3 the canker sore was totally gone and healed! I was pretty impressed! 2 Yesterday I woke up with the beginnings of an awful cold. That I had a store credi...

Relearning The Wheel: September 2014

http://www.relearningthewheel.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Investigation, Experimentation, and Modification. On Sunday, September 28, 2014. Half the dried skins. The resultant powder, after being buzzed in the blender. More flakes than powder, actually. Also, I just wanted to record here the wonderful body that my homemade yogurt now has. It's so thick! No gelatin needed like store-bought, just billions of living organisms. The first few times I made it it looked more like runny baby spit-up. Making it allows me to eat organic, full-fat yogurt for half. That we ...

Relearning The Wheel: Anti-Everything

http://www.relearningthewheel.blogspot.com/2015/01/anti-everything.html

Investigation, Experimentation, and Modification. On Saturday, January 31, 2015. Even though the cold I caught this week passed quickly, I have still felt a wee bit off. Like it would readily pop back into action with half a chance. I decided to make Anti-Everything. Capsules using Modern Alternative Mama's recipe. To kill more bad germs and help my lingering dull headaches. I just pop a couple a day. I think they help. Smoothie: 1/2 banana, almond butter, kale, coconut milk, chia seeds, blackberries.

Lullaby and Goodnight: Indoor Shoes

http://littlebabylulu.blogspot.com/2015/01/indoor-shoes.html

Monday, January 19, 2015. I pulled Tillie out of bed tonight because I found a sweet deal on shoes that would work great for indoor school shoes next year. There were three pairs available in her size and I wanted to know which ones she liked best. Well, I like two of them, the blue and the pink. But, I want the blue ones because I don't want a shoe in my favorite color for 1st grade. My favorite colors are red, pink and yellow.". Oh, you think your favorite color might change? Apple pie, anyone?

Lullaby and Goodnight: 11 Months

http://littlebabylulu.blogspot.com/2015/03/11-months.html

Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Sleep: She's in bed from 7-7 at night. Now that she can turn the light on, she does often. So, we know she wakes up and plays in the night, but falls back asleep. Sometimes after 5 I hear her playing, but I just turn off the monitor and Tim turns the light off when he get up. She can almost. Skip her morning nap, but really needs at least 15 minutes. If we're home I put her in bed at 9:30, but if we're out and about I just hope she falls asleep for a bit. She usually does. I carr...

Lullaby and Goodnight: 10 Months

http://littlebabylulu.blogspot.com/2015/02/10-months.html

Tuesday, February 17, 2015. This silly girl is 10 months old today! Sleep: She's still a 7-7 girl. She wakes a little before then, but we don't get her out of bed until 7. (She's playing, not crying.) Her morning nap is getting a lot shorter and she's fine if it's only 15 minutes in the car. If we're home, it's usually 1-2 hours. Her afternoon nap is at 1:30 and it ends anywhere between 3:15-4:30. I love the yellow and pink together. February 17, 2015 at 10:42 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Relearning Montreal

I left Montreal in 2002 to live on the West Coast for six years. Now I'm back in my hometown, rediscovering its many charms. Sunday, April 4, 2010. This long weekend "thing" where the weather is incredible and I get to spend time with family and friends has been pure bliss. It is also a nice transition between two jobs. I finished my contract with the non-profit on Friday morning and start a new job at Cirque du Soleil (woohoo! On Duluth where they have large tanks with tiny little Garra rufa. While I ca...

Transgender students who are bullied at school are three times more likely than peers to avoid attending school (GLSEN, 2013). ReLearn, L.L.C.
