Reluctant Traveller: Wells Gray Provincial Park
http://www.reluctant-traveller.com/index.php/journals/entry/clearwater
Wells Gray Provincial Park. Wells Gray Provincial Park. 20°C, Sunny. Having left Whistler behind, we’ve travelled nearly 500km north-east to Wells Gray Provincial Park, just a few kilometres shy from the tiny (and very new) town of Clearwater. It’s been a relatively relaxed few days, and despite being the mosquito entrée du-jour, we’ve managed to see quite a bit during our relatively short stay. Being an incredibly private person, I wasn’t all that happy about being unable to lock our doors on the ...
Reluctant Traveller: Failed trails and happy accidents
http://www.reluctant-traveller.com/index.php/journals/entry/failed_trails_and_happy_accidents
Failed trails and happy accidents. Whistler, British Columbia. 20°C, Sunny. Sure enough, after leaving the car behind and setting off from the trailhead, the gravel rapidly dissappeared under a blanket of old, thick snow and before we realised it we were walking on nearly six-feet of the stuff. We were able to scramble our way to Lower Joffre lake, with but with no sign of the path beyond that point we had no choice but to give up and go. There were no tweets on this day. Joffre lakes provincial park.
Reluctant Traveller: Costa Rica

16th April - 29th April 2008. The great thing about night tours is the sheer amount of focus you get on small creatures just by shining a flashlight on them; it can be a little difficult to see things under your nose in the jungle by daylight, but in the darkness all you see is what’s under your torch.and there’s always the added excitement that you may come a cropper by something venomous lurking out there in the black". That’s a big volcano…. La Fortuna, Costa Rica. Sunny, 30°C. Canas, Costa Rica.

28th October - 8th November 2006. There's pretty much every you could want here in a souvenir, from exotic spices and dried fruits to handicrafts and decorative weapons of all varieties - if you're willing to put up with the hassle of acquiring them.". Night, 17°C. Not to put too fine a point on it, it was a bloody… (more). Cloudy, 22°C. I’m sure those seagulls look familiar…. Sunny, 22°C. It didn’t take us too long to get here from Marrakech, and following an uneventful and scenically… (more). It’...
Reluctant Traveller: Japan

4th May - 22nd May 2007. At the moment it feels as though we're being propelled along by Saturn 5 rocket. Bullet trains have a top speed of around 300km/h, which is not what I’m used to travelling by rail, and you certainly can’t complain about the level of politeness here - every time a guard leaves a train carriage, he turns to the passengers and bows politely.". Clean, safe and ultra-modern…. Sunny, 26°C. For your average tourist, Tokyo is shopping nirvana.… (more). To be a pilgrim…. Sunny, 20°C.

Two lovebirds living their second chances. Empty Shelf Challenge 2014. Empty Shelf Challenge 2015. Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Josh has been reading a series of articles from "The Art of Manliness" on journaling. In theory, it sounds great. In application, not so much. Why is it that someone (me) who loves words so dearly, and who is a visual learner, a voracious reader, and an avid writer, LOATHES journaling? Why am I just so inconsistent? Monday, February 16, 2015. But this year. Oh, this year. I fel...

A reluctant runner
2010 MdS on TV. He may be a bit annoying but he did do bloody well. Cracknell's experience. Of my race airs on UK Discovery on 24 March 2011 at 9pm. Hopefully I'm in one of the background shots but it's frankly unlikely. Here's a link to a page on this site about kit and tips. Of what to expect for those who're thinking of entering or are about to run the MdS. On Friday night, followed by a bbq and beer at my friend Gus' on Saturday. By now, I am very much a "reluctant runner". 2009 is over and we're...

The Reluctant Runner
Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Down for the count. Haven't heard from me for a while? There's a good reason. That sore hip - well, it went from bad to worse. It finally drove me to the orthopedist, who diagnosed me with bursitis. She offered several treatment options, including injections, pain meds, and physical therapy. Wanting to fix the problem, I opted for PT. I've now spent several early mornings in physical therapy, and I have to say that so far I love it! And I do it with no hands. I gave up, but B r...

Getting around by motorised vehicle is an organic experience to put it mildly - the term "right of way" doesn't seem to exist here, and a "gangway" mentality backed up by the size of your vehicle / loudness of your horn seems to be the order of the day." - Vietnam 2010. Wednesday, 2 October 2013. Week of the Manchester Un-united. Result was the defeat of Sunderland (3-0) margin by West Bromwich Albion. The result angered the visiting fans they turned against the Sunderland manager Paulo Di Canio. His throat cutting gesture towards the supporters made the situation worse and it ended up in sacking of the manager eventually. He becomes the first manager to resign in this season.
