We realized early this year that we needed to address some key issues within the company – one of them being the cost of materials and the tracking of the use. Every week we would drive to our distributor and purchase quarts, gallons and sometimes pints of paint to complete the task. It was an hour and a half drive DOWN and an hour and a half drive BACK – each time! Could you imagine that? That simple question led us to today.

Go to the Line. This boat was tricky so we brought in the big guns – Papa Del. The block of wood that connects the foot stretcher (heel) to the boat was weakened. The piece of plastic (saw tooth track) was unable to stay put and withstand the constant pressure. There was also some minor damage to the back stays – the carbon fiber in the area was weakened and was also unable to withstand the pressure caused by the rowing stroke. Taking Risks – the growth of Finish Line. June 4, 2015. Putting trust in the guys in the shop has allowed me to make those calls and have those meetings. It’s an absolute blast to watch it develop. Not more than 3 days later, the shop had pushed out 5 repairs, all messages were read and replied to (happy customers! And the roof was repaired. Once that weight was off my shoulders, I focused on our next big task – finding someone to tackle the paint process. We did. And it’s paying off. August 16, 2016.

Will make your boat fast again. WWPDD – what would Papa Del Do? We had a team from Baltimore call us up and said “We have a boat with no bow and we need it back on the water.” Without hesitation we picked it up and brought it to the shop. Papa Del takes one look at it and laid out the plan. We first created a mold using a similar Vespoli 8. He then began construction. Using a level, laser alignment tool and carbon fiber he was able to rebuild nearly 3 feet of a bow section. Finish Line Shell Repair.

Dan and I took a look at a warehouse a mile down the road and knew instantly we needed the space. After more than 5 months of legal work and personal fundraising I made the decision to buy a 22,000 square foot warehouse in the heart of Southwest Baltimore. Are we even capable of surviving? We make old boats. Eman Single – Van Dusen. This is my favorite refurb story of 2014 (so far! BTW – E-Man is a fantastic rower and a great competitor. He competed in every age category possible at Masters Nationals in 2013 and wiped the floor with some seriously fast rowers. What made the completion even better…the day the boat was completed, E-man drove up to Baltimore to pick up the shell and without hesitation drove straight to Potomac Boat Club to take her for a spin. It’s all in the name. February 26, 2015. What if Apple wasn’t called, Apple? You think it would be as popular as it is today? The name of the company not only drives people to it, it brings people together. It creates a culture. A perfect name goes unnoticed…it’s as if it becomes obvious. This team is great. We were connected last summer through a referral. This winter we helped store their shells in our shop to keep them out of the harsh weather.
