Management of Facial Paralysis after Intracranial Surgery. By Mack Chen, MD and Michael McKenna, M.D. Stephen B. Tatter, M.D., Ph.D. Predicting Facial Nerve Recovery. Facial nerve is transected at surgery and grafted. Facial nerve is anatomically intact but does not stimulate at the brainstem and there is no facial movement in the immediate postoperative period.
