Blue-Eyed Eventers: Finally Getting Back into the Swing of Things
http://beeventers.blogspot.com/2010/02/finally-getting-back-into-swing-of.html
Friday, February 5, 2010. Finally Getting Back into the Swing of Things. For awhile, I haven't been having very regular lessons. They kept getting rescheduled for mini-emergencies, but the fact that the lessons were rescheduled for legitimate reasons doesn't make our dressage any better. I've been accepting poorer and poorer performances from Val without even realizing it. So, whatever hallucinogen I was on yesterday didn't work today; I saw my instructor ride my horse and saw what I hadn't been getting ...

Blue-Eyed Eventers: First post since February? Yikes!
http://beeventers.blogspot.com/2010/04/first-post-since-february-yikes.html
Saturday, April 3, 2010. First post since February? Well, things have been going very well with Val and I, although we have yet to get to do a cross-country schooling because of the weather. Our dressage is finally clicking again, after it totally imploded over the winter, thanks to my "one response" riding that never changed no matter what Val needed. fortunately, that is on the road towards becoming better. Could Val and I go Novice without huge mishaps and horrible accidents? April 3, 2010 at 2:28 PM.

Blue-Eyed Eventers: December 2009
http://beeventers.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 29, 2009. 2009 Reflections and 2010 Goals. 2009 was an incredible year. We went to 5 different events and qualified for the AECs our very first year at beginner novice. Our lowest dressage score at an event to date is a 33.7, which we achieved at Briar Fox, also the event where we got our best placing to date: 3rd! So, for 2010, our goals are:. Complete our first novice. Get rid of my dressage nerves. Get our very first 1st place win at a horse trial. And, maybe, go to the AECs? At the ...

Blue-Eyed Eventers: August 2009
http://beeventers.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 29, 2009. I'm alive when I'm vulnerable. I'm alive when I'm vulnerable/ I'm out of control, I'm losing my soul.". Our schooling show went very well last Sunday! In dressage, we put in one of the best, most forward tests we have the entire year and ended up with a score in the low 30's. He needed to be rounder through parts, and there was one trot circle where he almost broke to a canter, but other than that, that's the test I want at nationals! We got all 6's and 7's :). This week, my tr...

Blue-Eyed Eventers: January 2010
http://beeventers.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 30, 2010. Well, crap. I didn't get to ride this weekly hardly at all! Monday-Thursday was pure craziness, then Friday I longed him over some jumps at the request of my trainer and couldn't ride as long as I wanted to. Today, I went out to go ride and not a soul was there! The first XC schooling we'll try to go to is in March. I'm getting very excited, but I'm feeling a little unprepared. Here's hoping next week goes more according to plan. Sunday, January 24, 2010. So, today, we tried a...

Blue-Eyed Eventers: Hind Legs and Energy
http://beeventers.blogspot.com/2010/01/hind-legs-and-energy.html
Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Hind Legs and Energy. We had a really good lesson on Monday. Despite the fact that we walked for 95% of it, I feel like I learned some incredibly important things. When we switch to doing the haunches in, although we don't change bend, it's now his right leg that's coming up under him and pushing him forward. At first, that really had me confused. How could that be when the bend hadn't changed? That's something we'll have to experiment with to perfect. We finished up by canteri...

Blue-Eyed Eventers: November 2009
http://beeventers.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 23, 2009. Nate Chambers and Rolling Stone II. I have been huge fans of these guys ever since the AECs. I watched the upper level dressage tests, and so many of those horses were significantly behind the vertical for large portions of the test. but not this pair! They are a stunning team, and I will always be a fan in the future :). Sunday, November 22, 2009. Back on Track. again! After a very good canter-trot-stretchdown trot transition, we ended happily. It was the best ride I'd had...
