Frisbee: A Book Journal. Sunday, February 27, 2011. What Do Bloggers Mean? I've read plenty of blog reviews like this. I haven't ached with loss yet, but I have recommended many books. I recently wrote an unintentionally provocative piece about bloggers and bookstore affiliates. Is it conflict of interest? Do bloggers compromise their standards. When they sign up to sell books as Amazon or B&N affiliates. Bloggers visited my blog to say there was no conflict of interest. Nobody but bloggers commented.

Frisbee: A Book Journal. Monday, December 03, 2012. The Male Book Count, or You Don't Understand Me. I must get my "male book count" up, I announced. I don't mean sperm count: unlike Jennifer Aniston in The Switch. I will not be injecting sperm in a turkey baster. It wouldn't work at my age unless I joined the fecund women of the tribe in Ann Patchett's novel, State of Wonder. Astonishingly, I've read a few more books by men than I anticipated. So far I've read 45 books by men. That's 31 percent! Well, m...

Frisbee: A Book Journal. Monday, May 30, 2011. Sports Injuries and Reading Penelope Mortimer's My Friend Says It's Bullet-Proof. It's Memorial Day. The U.S. Day of the Dead. You mourn for somebody, though everyone's so scattered that there's no one left in your hometown to put flowers on the grave. It's also the Start of Summer: And since you didn't plant a tiki torch in your back yard, or go to a Hawaiian theme or pool party, you need ice cream. Especially after all the sports injuries. I love this book.
