City to Bay 2014 – Joel's weblog
https://blog.jms.id.au/2014/09/city-to-bay-2014
Always out of date. City to Bay 2014. On Sunday I was one of 36,000 people who ran in the City to Bay Fun Run. It’s a 12km event, starting at the north edge of the Adelaide CBD, taking us south through the centre of the city, down Anzac Highway, finishing on Jetty Road in Glenelg. A predicted high of 22 C, no winds and clear skies made for great conditions. Segment on Strava, with a 2:13 km/h split. I improved by 4:38 from last year, and importantly, bet Greg by 20 seconds! September 22, 2014.

Always out of date. This blog post presents the content from my linux.conf.au 2013 presentation Droids that talk: Pairing Codec2 and Android. Where I presented some background on radio theory, and followed by a discussion of the software components required to run Codec2 and Fdmdv2 on Android, via a USB sound card. A digital voice codec for communication below 2400 bits per second, developed by local voice codec guru David Rowe. Channels, called Fdmdv2. In addition to my. Analog voice over the air. Now t...

Always out of date. There’s Something on my ARM. There’s something on my ARM. Is the name of a talk I first gave at the Open Source Developers Conference in Brisbane, Australia, in December 2009. Since drafting this post I have given an updated version of the talk to LinuxSA. My local Linux Users Group. In the talk, I gave an introduction to the software used in Chromium. Working on Chromium’s Linux port. Finally, I spoke about the ARM. The core of which is the OMAP3430. It should be noted that the resis...

January 2010 – Joel's weblog

Always out of date. For Christmas this year Mandy’s parents and mine gave us presents to use on our balcony. My parents gave us a Webber Baby Q. A small hooded gas barbecue produced by Webber, who are more commonly known for their kettle barbecues. Mandy’s parents gave us a stained wooden outdoor setting: a table and two chairs. It fits nicely on the balcony, and is great for enjoying the sunshine. I sat out there for 4 hours with my laptop setting up this blog over the weekend. January 3, 2010.

Always out of date. On Sunday I competed in my first Rogaining. 6 hour Bush Roganie held at Sanderson. By the SA Rogaining Association. I competed with Greg and Mark in a team of three; Mark had done one before, but Greg and I were newbies. We had about 30 minutes to study our map, solve the travelling salesman problem. Of 1120 having visited 23 controls. The winners got 1530 of a possible 1670 points, meaning they visited all but one or two of the 35 controls. July 24, 2014. Rogaining; runkeeper; fitness.
