kettwigefrau: March 2012
http://kettwigefrau.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Ramblings of an expat in Germany. Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Actually it was breakfast, but that doesn't scan as well. One of our Frauen die Frühstücken is leaving us. It's dreadfully wonderful news* that we've had to come to terms with. Princie's actual leaving date is April 9, slap bang in the middle of the school Easter hols (when lots of us are away) so this Wednesday was the last time for us to f. Http:/ www.redtube.com/. Sterilisation of husbands and the nursing care afterwards meaning that 1 girli...

kettwigefrau: July 2012
http://kettwigefrau.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Ramblings of an expat in Germany. Sunday, July 15, 2012. Off to Spain tomorrow, let the packing commence. Friday, July 13, 2012. Today is Friday 13th, probably one of the most superstitious days in the year. I'm quite used to the English superstitions, having grown up with them (not that I adhere to them of course) but German ones? Now that's a whole new ball game, here's a few I bet you haven't heard of. Bury your (dead) dog under your doorstep, his ghost will guard your house. Spitting on each others l...

kettwigefrau: May 2012
http://kettwigefrau.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Ramblings of an expat in Germany. Wednesday, May 30, 2012. The British are often criticised for their lack of style (here in Germany as well) but personally when it comes down to the least stylish nation I would probably put Germany in the top 5, maybe even the top 3.I'm not being mean merely observant. I'll give you my justifications:. Socks with sandals. Almost as heinous a crime as naked nails in book. No, no, no. The wearing of a scarf, all day, every day, come rain or shine, winter or summer is not ...

kettwigefrau: April 2012
http://kettwigefrau.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Ramblings of an expat in Germany. Monday, April 30, 2012. Verena 2: Germans 0. Not that I'm at all competitive or driven to keeping score or anything so trivial, but a girl's got to keep her sanity somehow. 1 MIL* *, would probably have flipped out if we hadn't had the children christened, and no, she's not a bible basher, and probably only goes to church for weddings, christenings, funerals and Christmas. Don't you need to use the machine, the old lady asked me. So there you go, Verena 2: Germans 0, a g...

Ramblings of an expat in Germany. Sunday, January 13, 2013. And this is it I'm afraid, my final blog post here. But my no means my last post. For some time now I've been blipping and blogging and have been finding that the community feeling on blip suits me more and more. So this isn't goodbye (unless you want it to be) merely auf wiedsehen (appropriately). If you want more you'll find me at http:/ www.blipfoto.com/kettwigefrau. Sunday, January 6, 2013. kettwigefrau: June 2012
http://kettwigefrau.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Ramblings of an expat in Germany. Wednesday, June 27, 2012. As a treat (! Herr B always takes his leaving children on a school trip and I get the impression that most years it's to the same place, the Kletterwald in Niederrhein about a 45 minute drive from home. Back in January, or whenever it was first mentioned I foolishly agreed to go along too, probably thinking I could take some of the children in my car, throw the dog in too and while they climbed through the trees Logan and I could go walkies.

kettwigefrau: December 2012
http://kettwigefrau.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Ramblings of an expat in Germany. Sunday, December 30, 2012. At the circus today, this lady wasn't the scariest act by a long way (Jas hid her face for at three of the acts) but she was very, very good and very high up. Sunday, December 23, 2012. The view from above. Went to the Weihnachtsmarkt for the last time this year (I'm fairly sure the last day is today) despite the rain. Thursday, December 20, 2012. All this leads me to the hectic social whirl that is my life, now it's nothing when compared to th...

kettwigefrau: December 2011
http://kettwigefrau.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Ramblings of an expat in Germany. Wednesday, December 28, 2011. Christmas has many rituals associated with it, and I'm not talking about the god bothery stuff here either. Christmas to me is always turkey, Christmas pudding and Christmas crackers. Without those three ingredients it just isn't right*. So far we've been lucky. This was our fifth Christmas here in Germany and we've managed to get crackers and pud every year, they get smuggled in as contraband by friends and family. Chase it round the garden.

Ramblings of an expat in Germany. Tuesday, January 31, 2012. It's quite clear that people have different pain thresholds. I'm a complete girlie wuss, my birth plan* was succint and to the point and went something along the lines of "leave the drugs trolley with me". Simon (being male) claims to have a much higher tolerance to pain (of course) and was saying just at the weekend that Jas (who is, it has to be said, only 10) isn't very good with pain* *. In joke (just between me 'n Muna) sorry. Germany does...

kettwigefrau: Sunday Snaps 142
http://kettwigefrau.blogspot.com/2012/12/sunday-snaps-142.html
Ramblings of an expat in Germany. Sunday, December 23, 2012. The view from above. Went to the Weihnachtsmarkt for the last time this year (I'm fairly sure the last day is today) despite the rain. Went up in the big wheel (in the rain, not nice) and this is the view down onto the edge of the market, I like the shadows on the buildings from the sparkly trees. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
