An eighteen year old young man climbed into the back seat of a 1972 Ford station wagon headed for Hammond, Indiana and his first, ever youth conference. Instead, I took a cute girl to a noodle place, and she took a handsome young man to Chili’s……. Even more scandalous is that we met up later and all 4 of us shared dessert. It not only leaves me unsatisfied as a listener, it adversely effects my experience as a musician. My ear is more attuned to interesting harmonies, phrasing, melodic content through all of my listening. My playing, however, can’t match that. You could say my ear is ahead of hands!
