Ride the Coast

A Charity Fund-Raising Adventure. Wednesday, 12 August 2009. Scotland Day 3 - A spot on forecast, a horrible start, but what a stunning finish to the day! Half way along this section I came to the head of Loch Slieven, with the mist and rain that had been following me, now creating this eerie sight as it now presented this thick wall of mist, luckily I wasn’t going back down it straight away. For its long history dating back to the beginning of the 13th century, and its unusual circular plan. The castle ...

Ride the Coast: March 2009

http://ridethecoast-acorns.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

A Charity Fund-Raising Adventure. Sunday, 29 March 2009. A Very Special Thank You! This year there is a special effort to raise funds for Children with Leukaemia as a reflection of Mark Bonner’s efforts in running this year’s London Marathon, however in line with previous years activities, there will be another recipient of funds. I am extremely proud to say that Peter informed me that my efforts would be recognised with, what to me, is a substantial donation. You can find all the details at the following.

Ride the Coast: November 2008

http://ridethecoast-acorns.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

A Charity Fund-Raising Adventure. Sunday, 30 November 2008. For those that were either out of the country or on another planet, yesterday, Saturday 29th of November, was not a nice day. It also coincided with the first of Acorns Santa Runs in Brindley Place in Birmingham, I had promised Sanjay that I would attend and bring along one of the cheques I had already received. Take care and as Mick says ‘You don’t stop riding when you get old, you stop when you get frozen solid’. Thursday, 27 November 2008.

Ride the Coast: December 2008

http://ridethecoast-acorns.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

A Charity Fund-Raising Adventure. Wednesday, 31 December 2008. Only a few hours left now! The holidays have gone so quickly I have fiddled about with the bike, topping up the fuel so I don’t have to stop on my way over to Worcester tomorrow morning. If the forecast is to be believed, If I stop I would no doubt be turning back due to the cold. Take care and as Mick says 'You don’t stop riding when you get old, you only stop riding when you need your head checking! Wednesday, 17 December 2008. Especially w...

Ride the Coast: February 2009

http://ridethecoast-acorns.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

A Charity Fund-Raising Adventure. Saturday, 28 February 2009. Saturday 21st February saw one of the best weekends riding I can ever remember, so good in fact that there were so many memorable views and things to report I am going to split this into two separate chapters. Finally it is only a few miles through Studland Village an on to Ferry Rd, to the chain ferry back over to Sandbanks and Poole. Take care and as Mick says ‘If Carlsberg made great days for riding, this would be one of them’. For anyone i...

The mad ramblings of a collegiate bike racer. Sunday, December 20, 2009. Thesis, life, and injuries have taken me in a different direction than I had anticipated. I'm hoping to ride this season, but I'm almost certain that I will not race. I've begun to start lifting to gain some weight. I'm doing this for a multitude of reasons:. 1) I was always plagued by a weak core while riding, I can address this by lifting. 2) I need something to do so I don't go insane. Thursday, October 1, 2009. Long time no see.

Being surrounded by verdant trees, silken grass, hearing your own heart beat. You can look out as far as the eye can see with nothing but nature’s undisturbed beauty. They say the grass is always greener on the other side, but if you ask me, the grass is pretty green. Over here. It looks similar over there, but I like right where I am. It’s beautiful. Peaceful. Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.".

Thinking as its own Antidote? Thinking as its own Antidote? Clippings from Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche’s book, As It Is. It is your mind that experiences pleasure and pain. Your mind is also that which can go to a heavenly realm or to the hells. What is this mind? In essence, it is empty; by nature, it is cognizant. Its capacity is the unity of the two, being empty and cognizant. Once you recognize this, there is knowing. Without recognizing your own nature, there is unknowing, ignorance. In this world we go t...
