The Right Pedal: May 2006

http://www.rightpedal.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 29, 2006. As it should be. What a perfect day. A lunch overloaded with smelly cheese and rich chocolate followed by a 100-mile blast through the back roads of NH. 80 degrees, windows open, downshifting into the turns and roaring out the apex. Every day, we have good reason to like our cars. But it’s for days like this one that we love them. Posted by David @ 6:40 PM. Thursday, May 18, 2006. But none of those things bother me as much as the cars themselves: they are frauds. What kind of pe...

The Right Pedal: Passat, you tease

http://www.rightpedal.blogspot.com/2007/02/passat-you-tease.html

Friday, February 23, 2007. Passat, you tease. My car started making a noise, one which I refer to as the "thousand-dollar squeak." It seems to recur every year or so, and it costs about $1,000 to fix. I'm getting tired of it (the thousand-dollar part, not the squeak), so I might just ignore it and see what happens. I also want a reliable car. And this is when the foam starts hitting the fuel tank: the Passat's reliability is a Columbia-scale disaster. But wait! Hold on a sec, is that an o-ring cracking?

The Right Pedal: Mercedes on TrimSpa

http://www.rightpedal.blogspot.com/2007/02/mercedes-on-trimspa.html

Friday, February 23, 2007. I love the W140 S-class. It's big, fast, big, and really, really big. It's the most imposing car to come aus Deutschland since the 770k, which was available only to certain Very Bad Men. (Note the flag on the front fender.). Bruno Sacco, the designer of the W140, and many other glorious mercs, said exactly that: his only regret from his design career is that the W140 is 4 inches too tall (though to be fair, he did not compare his creation to a Conehead). Further Adventures with Dr. Science. Saturday, November 28, 2009. You think I is swizzfiggling you? The problem here is that the camera wielder is too bright. The flash was not on, in fact. It's all the stuffing. OK, yes, I know, but it was that, or have it sideways in gphoto2, which uses exif information to auto-rotate, and I'm stubborn.). And that's it for documentation. After the first course is on the table, it's not as interesting to arrange pretty pictures. Links to this post.

Further Adventures with Dr. Science: I never believed in these things anyway

http://gelasticboffins.blogspot.com/2010/03/i-never-believed-in-these-things-anyway.html

Further Adventures with Dr. Science. Saturday, March 20, 2010. I never believed in these things anyway. Yesterday was the "last day of winter," in some official sense, or at least a widely agreed upon one. Biking required no more than a long-sleeved shirt, and I didn't wear gloves. So naturally the "first day of spring" opens like this:. Nice, very nice. Last day of winter in Tokai was a beautiful 20C day. but I was sleeping most of the time in order to be ready for a night shift. View my complete profile.
