The End? | Canadian Audiophile
https://canadianaudiophile.wordpress.com/2013/03/24/the-end
March 24, 2013. I’m writing this post to inform all three readers of this blog that I’ve decided to hang it up as the Canadian Audiophile. For a number of reasons, I have lost that loving feeling when it comes to writing about music. I have been writing on life support for some time now, so to speak, and I don’t feel the fire anymore. Very little seems to thrill me and the music is starting to bleed together. I will still continue to write and review movies at Canadian Cinephile. Click to share on Tumblr...

Jackie Ryan – Listen Here | Canadian Audiophile
https://canadianaudiophile.wordpress.com/2013/02/13/jackie-ryan-listen-here
February 13, 2013. Jackie Ryan – Listen Here. Sometimes an outfit so impressive takes to your ears with poise and confidence so exceptional that it almost overwhelms. A supreme instance of the aforementioned. Swings through blues, gospel, samba, and jazz with easy sway and hip know-how. Another flavor comes from t...

Saffron – dawning | Canadian Audiophile
https://canadianaudiophile.wordpress.com/2013/02/11/saffron-dawning
February 11, 2013. Saffron – dawning. As a collision of creative impulses, Saffron is something special. Perhaps best described as kindred spirits from across the musical divide, this collective of artists takes to. With a spirit of openness and reverence seldom heard. The possible contradictions in the melodic realm, with Ries from the worlds of jazz and rock and the Grammy-nominated Khan carrying diverse traditions, melt the instant these individuals get together to make music. Is at once a meditative ...

BETS – BETS | Canadian Audiophile
https://canadianaudiophile.wordpress.com/2013/02/13/bets-bets
February 13, 2013. BETS – BETS. With delicate, slightly removed tones and saccharine sweetness tempered with an aptly cheeky ego, BETS takes to her self-titled debut EP with polish and wonder. This bi-coastal wunderkind delivers her brand of indie pop with her fourth glass of champagne in hand, embodying the night-gazing of New York and the beach parties of Los Angeles with effortless cool. We do know that the songs of BETS. Things start with I Love You, But, a slinky tune supported by Murray’s ivory plu...

Ron Sexsmith – Forever Endeavour | Canadian Audiophile
https://canadianaudiophile.wordpress.com/2013/02/13/ron-sexsmith-forever-endeavour
February 13, 2013. Ron Sexsmith – Forever Endeavour. A deeply personal record, Ron Sexsmith’s. Is a cutely titled examination of what happens when an extremely gifted songwriter turns things inward in an almost overpowering fashion. The Ontario-born folk/pop/whatever artist has been inside before, but he has seldom cut things this close to the bone. The reason for this appears to come in the form of a health scare in the summer of 2011. Long Player Late Bloomer. Snake Road boots thing in another directio...
