She lives in the Derbyshire Dales and spent twenty years living above Bradford Dale in Youlgrave. What makes the landscape especially rich around the River Bradford is the close proximity of the different kinds of bedrock. A walk up the hill to Mawstone or Robin Hood’s Stride (a gritstone tor) will take you across limestone, shales and gritstone with their very different associated flora and fauna. Growing up wild in the Peak District. River Bradford pushchair ramble. August 28, 2014. A couple of pubs in Youlgreave, dogs are welcome on leads. Alport village, in the lay-by near the phone box. Flat, with a small hill if you return via the loop. Gravel paths, suitable for all-terrain pushchairs, although the return loop requires dry conditions. The old coach road between Alport and Youlgreave. Small but crystal clear. Who needs a petting zoo? Turn right here if you want to do the optional return loop.
