He first Church in our area, was organized in April 1844 and is Cedar Bayou Methodist on Ferry Road. A group of Methodists met for 2 years in brush arbors and bought 10 acres from John R. Rhea for $40 in 1847, to build a log church. The cemetery on the southeast side was added around 1857. There was a second Methodist Church located near Duke Hill in Pelly, named Harmony Grove. Refers to the current St. John’s United Methodist Church. Cedar Bayou United Methodist. Eastside Church of Christ.
