Road of Iron: October 2006
http://lotstreetwiz.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
Notions and observations on training for a distant Ironman triathlon, and all that entails (running, cycling, swimming, lots of other stuff), and on Toronto, travel, and what I might call my life. Saturday, October 28, 2006. Considering that I’m not working out, it seems odd that I’m so tired all the time. Friday evening, watching SportsCentre. On the Sports Network. I mounted my bike on the trainer. One of my favourite magazines, Cycling Plus. Do I have a good trainer? Do I have the right technique?

Notions and observations on training for a distant Ironman triathlon, and all that entails (running, cycling, swimming, lots of other stuff), and on Toronto, travel, and what I might call my life. Tuesday, July 13, 2004. I’ve been thinking about street names. In the 19th century, many of Toronto’s mundane or utilitarian street names were lost in a kind of obeisance to the British aristocracy: Lot Street (what could be more mundane than that? Became Queen Street, Hospital Street became Richmond Street.

Saturday, April 29, 2006. The official Road of Iron calendar! After Walt Mossberg’s glowing review of Google Calendar. In Thursday’s Wall Street Journal. I checked it out. It is pretty cool. Once you’ve opened Google Calendar, there’s a little box labelled Search public calendars. Just type "road of iron".

Saturday, November 04, 2006. Does it pay to complain sometimes? Personally, I think crashing is part of cycling. I think one of the cyclist’s jobs is dealing with imperfect road surfaces. So when I crashed. And yesterday in the mail was a cheque. What a pleasant surprise! Posted by LotStreetWiz at 6:11 PM.

Notions and observations on training for a distant Ironman triathlon, and all that entails (running, cycling, swimming, lots of other stuff), and on Toronto, travel, and what I might call my life. Tuesday, April 05, 2005. My dad and cycling. Watching the World Track Cycling Championships, which I did this weekend past in Los Angeles, somehow reminded me of my dad in relation to cycling. I came to cycling early. I think - although I’m not sure - that I was five years old when I first rode a bike.

Notions and observations on training for a distant Ironman triathlon, and all that entails (running, cycling, swimming, lots of other stuff), and on Toronto, travel, and what I might call my life. Sunday, May 22, 2005. It’s never a good idea to take your eyes off the road. Potholes and ridges appear unexpectedly. I bunny-hopped one chasm on Unwin Avenue, but my rear wheel caught it anyway. Yesterday I saw a frog (Mona thinks a leopard frog) on the Don Trail a few hundred yards below the Forks. On Mother’...

Notions and observations on training for a distant Ironman triathlon, and all that entails (running, cycling, swimming, lots of other stuff), and on Toronto, travel, and what I might call my life. Wednesday, February 28, 2007. Cheap music, cheap! This post is not about triathlon. I often read Arts and Letters Daily. Which is itself a true blog (Web log) of interesting articles around the Web. It sent me to this. Online article from Gramophone. About the Joyce Hatto scandal. This morning in the 50-yd pool...
