First thoughts on a Kindle | Tangential Thoughts

https://robbieg8s.wordpress.com/2011/02/05/first-thoughts-on-a-kindle

Sundry rants from an itinerant mathematician. Laquo; My first Sourdough. Why 22/7 is a better π day than 3.14. First thoughts on a Kindle. I drifted away from reading somewhat in the last decade – busy with work, homemaking, and later a baby / toddler / preschooler. I still consumed my favourite (Banks) greedily, but was reading less new fiction. First podcasts, and then twitter. Filled my commute time where once i’d’ve read. More than this, i just lost track of making the time to read. Ergonomically, it...

Why 22/7 is a better π day than 3.14 | Tangential Thoughts

https://robbieg8s.wordpress.com/2013/03/15/why-227-is-a-better-π-day-than-3-14

Sundry rants from an itinerant mathematician. Laquo; First thoughts on a Kindle. My first ratio bake. Why 22/7 is a better π day than 3.14. On March 14th, i tweeted “ Surely today is American pi day. I’ll be celebrating on July 22nd along with the rest of the sane date ordering world. Apart from poking gentle fun at date ordering, i do have mathematical reasons to like 22/7 more. As i mentioned in a follow up tweet. Calls 22/7 Pi Approximation Day, reserving Pi Day for the less accurate 3.14. Well, the a...

Where to start ? | Tangential Thoughts

https://robbieg8s.wordpress.com/2010/04/11/where-to-start

Sundry rants from an itinerant mathematician. Too many times, myself or others have advised me to get a blog, usually in order to quarantine a rant about something. Finally, i’ve decided to do something about it. Expect to find sundry rants here, on the varying topics which occupy my time and energy. That could mean a lot of things:. Including a recent interest in sourdough. A hobby i’ve been neglecting of late. As well as my family and friends. Mathematics, including NMSS. You can also find me on twitter.

My first ratio bake | Tangential Thoughts

https://robbieg8s.wordpress.com/2015/11/24/my-first-ratio-bake

Sundry rants from an itinerant mathematician. Laquo; Why 22/7 is a better π day than 3.14. My first ratio bake. I’ve recently put a bit of effort in our garden bed – enough irrigation and mulching to keep some salad greens alive on hot Sydney days. One thing that needs almost no care is a couple of rhubarb crowns from my Dad, which produce a decent harvest with some regularity. Which looked interesting, but I didn’t have all the ingredients. On Food and Cooking. 35 g brown sugar. 2 tbsp rice bran oil.

My first Sourdough | Tangential Thoughts

https://robbieg8s.wordpress.com/2010/04/11/my-first-sourdough

Sundry rants from an itinerant mathematician. Laquo; Where to start? First thoughts on a Kindle. However, of late, i’ve been afflicted by a mild professional ennui – it happens from time to time – and found myself getting more interested in matters of the hearth. This post is not the place to go into a lot of detail on the reasons, although i will say that reading Stephanie Alexander. 8216;s Kitchen Garden Companion. So, it was on this fertile soil that the seeds sown by various people on twitter. Enter ...
