Again, I love how the frames enhance the paintings. The Giraffe is so cool! I like the smooth/beat up texture of the pin next to your painting. March 24, 2011 at 10:38 PM. Ahh I LOVE the bowling pin! I read too much.

Sort of skipped a step: first, glue painted bit onto 140 lb watercolor paper (the white part above). Then trim down, using an exacto knife. Then you start gluing her together. PVA glue, all the way through. No photos of this.sorry. But I'll sometimes use little bits of tape to help assemble before applying the final glue bit. But eventually, it all comes together like this:. I have to show them off, you know. Agent Pendergrass (left) and Amelia Peabody (right). She's a pretty active hunter, but very sweet.

Work in Progress: and happy new year too..!
http://crown-of-laurel.blogspot.com/2011/01/and-happy-new-year-too.html
And happy new year too! Oh, and this was a gift as well, though I only gave one. I based it off the second idea I'd had for my calendar project, where the tabloid sheet would be perforated, so it could break up into tiny pocket calendars. Only October and February have holiday icons, and I made sure none of the blues and greens were repeated in the icons, with the exception of the grass below. January 14, 2011 at 7:16 PM. Super cute. All of your miniatures are beautifully done. So delicate.

I realize that I forgot to post the last of these paintings, and update on how exactly the craft fair went. As you can see, I was able to complete at least 3 more paintings, each framed differently. In the end, I only sold the fox and a few cards. I priced the paintings at $25, which I was concerned might be a little pricy, simply by virtue of the fact it was a craft fair, and people were only paying by cash. But for myself, I actually felt that was an appropriate price for the time and materials. I was ...

Work in Progress: deerie me..
http://crown-of-laurel.blogspot.com/2011/06/deerie-me.html
I've edited the Blogger template. Hopefully these new posts don't look so odd anymore! There still one more step between pasting and posting then I'd like, but it works. The second, female victorian deer. So strict! But in the end, I think we were both happy with the result. A little icon to place on shipping labels, etc. She primary sells hats featuring a big button, and recently has included leaves in a similar pattern to above. June 16, 2011 at 5:54 PM. Bluebird on my shoulder. Don't trust the color. Something about uploading it desaturates and lightens it. This is overcompensated and still feels too light. And blue. Arg. Now, the technical aspects:. The more I photograph my pieces, the more I'm turned off by the direction I was pushed to use in school. There, I was told that I should make the shadows strong, use directional light, make the shadow play a role etc, etc. Some of it was good advice, but with some pieces, I don't think it feels right. I kno...
