A Fly in the Soup

A Fly in the Soup. Monday, July 21, 2014. In another lifetime, Amy and I led teams of college students on short-term missions projects. There was the 6 week Los Angeles Urban Project in the summer of 1995, a 5 week project in Guatemala in 2001 and then another trip to Guatemala, this time for 2 weeks, with our then 16 month old son in tow, in 2003. And we loved each trip. Why? Because each time God was faithful to bring transformation. But in 2003 things had changed. We were just starting our family,...

A Fly in the Soup: The Streak is Over!

http://www.robsoup.blogspot.com/2014/04/as-many-of-you-know-i-was-running.html

A Fly in the Soup. Tuesday, April 29, 2014. The Streak is Over! As many of you know, I was running through Lent. Two previous posts, here. In the end, I blew past Lent and ran til my 42nd birthday on the 24th. First, let me say thanks to everyone for checking in on me and for cheering me on. It's been fun to have this experience be a little bit communal. About midway through I blogged some reflections. Here at the end of the streak I'll offer a couple more:. Like, I had a sense that it was OK for this th...

traveling outside karma: Granted.

http://laylainreallife.blogspot.com/2014/12/granted_1.html

Monday, December 1, 2014. This year has been one of self-discovery, formed by St. Augustine's prayer: “Grant Lord that I may know myself, that I may know you.”. This year, counseling has been less of a fairy godmother and more of a doorway, leading inward. More than anything, my counselor asks (often mid-verbal processing unload), "what are you feeling right now? As I've gained a better grasp on what I think and feel (and why), I've been able to more honestly bring my real self to God. And others. Having...

traveling outside karma: My Baba.

http://laylainreallife.blogspot.com/2013/06/baba.html

Sunday, June 16, 2013. Blessings and honor to all the first time and long time papa's out there. To the dad's near and gone, but never forgotten. To all the momma's out there who were also dad's to their kids. To my own "baba", who loves us deeply, sacrificially and. In his own mischievously hilarious way! Thank you for all you've given, modeled and entrusted to us. For skipping to your own beat, standing your ground,. And finding creative ways to bless others. May you be blessed today and everyday.

Stories from the Journey: Panning: take 1

http://tinairene.blogspot.com/2010/12/panning-take-1.html

Stories from the Journey. Thoughts on life, ministry, and other random things. Tuesday, December 21, 2010. On the drive to Loyalton today I decided to take my first shot at panning. It's when the object you are shooting is moving past you (or you are moving past it, in my case) and you want to capture the idea of movement. You take a longer exposure and try to keep the object in the same location in your viewfinder throughout the shot. Harder than it sounds. Posted by Tina Irene. View my complete profile.

Stories from the Journey: Rainy Day In

http://tinairene.blogspot.com/2010/12/rainy-day-in.html

Stories from the Journey. Thoughts on life, ministry, and other random things. Friday, December 17, 2010. Because it was so rainy today and will be until Christmas, I woke up this morning with a goal of trying to capture the "story of rain." To bad I don't like getting wet. Today I warmed up to the idea by taking photos while still inside :). Steamed soy milk with honey and cinnamon. My new afternoon favorite. These were made from old music sheets. Great idea! We were there for a while :).

Stories from the Journey: Rainy Day Out

http://tinairene.blogspot.com/2010/12/rainy-day-out.html

Stories from the Journey. Thoughts on life, ministry, and other random things. Saturday, December 18, 2010. Today with umbrella and towel in hand, I set out to take pictures of the rain and to attempt to capture the story of "wet". I don't know that I love. Any of these pictures, but here was my attempt. Shot from the gazebo in Mitchell Park. In front of Seventh Day Adventist Church. Perfect for rainy day feelings. Posted by Tina Irene. I like that you are blogging more. :) The pictures look great!

I told him he was my hero, and he said it’s ok to have heros). I felt so blessed that he would talk to me for so long and give me so much encouraging advice. And now Tina Fey is hosting SNL! Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Urbana Video Recap - Swaziland. So this past year was almost entirely focused on Urbana for our family. Most notably, Matt traveled to New York and Swaziland to help produce the below videos. Join In - Caregiver. Join In - Spinach. Join In - Banquet. CALLING ON THE NAME OF THE LORD? On the Day of Pentecost Peter quoted the prophet Joel (Acts 2:21And it shall be that everyone who call on the name of the Lord will be saved.). traveling outside karma: Legends.

http://laylainreallife.blogspot.com/2014/12/legends.html

Tuesday, December 2, 2014. I stumbled across the new show on Amazon called " Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street. It has a nostalgic feel to it, a mixture of "Are you Afraid of the Dark? Watching the show got me thinking of the mysteries of my own childhood. One memory in particular popped into my mind. The legend of the witch on Eastern. It was a brief conversation, but long enough to ignite my imagination for the summer. Who was this lady? Was she really a witch? What was a witch? A Fly in the Soup.

Wednesday, 27 May 2015. 21st GUCR, Birmingham to London -145 Miles. It was the ideal opportunity to get the ground work underway, i recorded 700 miles running over the first 28 days and this continued into January with a further 700 miles, the base work was now completed, all that remained was to get some runs on the local canal to prepare me mentally for the race. Paul Stout, Pat "Paddy" Robbins, Mimi, Natasha Farid, Gerry Smallwood and Andy Nuttall who was also a first timer like myself. Who has run ju...
