In AD 43, they defeated the British tribes, and took over southern Britain. The Romans gave many things to Britain. They gave us the Latin language, the calendar, laws and a legal system. They also gave us straight roads, central heating, concrete and aqueducts.

They kept rule until 1204, when the French King Phillip II invaded and conquered Normandy. Most of the Normans in England decided to stay and become English, and most of the Normans in France became French. The Normans pretty much disappeared from the world.
