Fill Your Life with Smiles | rootsofmyheart

My childhood in Kenya. Nourishing soil →. Fill Your Life with Smiles. A few days ago in this post. I said that I would tell you more about these neighbors. Ray wasn’t always there. He was a veterinarian who had a huge heart. He travelled from village to village with all his medications and instruments. He mostly treated cattle in the Maasai villages. He always rode his motorcycle so he could cover more ground. When he was at home, he was fun! His wife and three young children had a funeral and then retur...
Baking Day | rootsofmyheart

My childhood in Kenya. Fill Your Life with Smiles →. This could be a Tupperware ad for the late 70s. Tupperware bowl, pitcher, spice containers, and measuring cups. As you can see from the expression on my face, Baking Day is serious business. On September 16, 2011 in Uncategorized. Fill Your Life with Smiles →. 11 responses to “. Ms Green Jean's Things. I’ve also always thought of writing a blog – you’ve inspired me! September 7, 2011 at 10:20 am. Let me know when you get it up and running. I would love to read!

My childhood in Kenya. Sew Much to Do →. Don’t Throw the Baby Out With the Bath…errr…Laundry Water. I complain about doing laundry. A lot. It’s kind of ridiculous, really. I have this machine, you see, where I cram all the dirty clothes, shut the door, add some detergent, push a button, and walk away. After this wonderful machine has cleaned my clothes, it has a polite little ding to indicate that its work is complete. Brilliant, no? I am blessed. Immeasurably, abundantly, terrifically blessed. We freque...
Menno Guest House | rootsofmyheart

My childhood in Kenya. Sew Much to Do. Movin’ on UP! As a little girl, I loved the Mennonite Guest House (we called it Menno for short) best of all. The rooms were quaint and comfortable, they served my favorite food (hot semolina porridge and papaya with limes), and the staff was friendly and cheerful. There was a playroom full of old books and wooden toys. Our favorite was a wooden marble track that brought us hours of entertainment. This picture is blurry, but just look at those branches! You are comm...

CL8N CAMP: December 2010
http://cl8n.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Nearing the end of Little Bug's gestation. We're nearing the end of this pregnancy in the next few days (I hope) and are getting really excited to meet this new little person! But if we're being completely honest, we're also a little freaked out anticipating all the changes we'll be making in the coming weeks. But everything will work itself out.of this we are certain! T seems as though we will be missing out on any sort of tax credits this year as birthing does not seem at all imminent! We celebrated Ch...
CL8N CAMP: September 2010
http://cl8n.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Our ladies have started laying! So far, we've gotten 7 eggs over the last week! They are called 'pullet eggs', meaning they are on the small side, but will get to their 'normal' size over the next few weeks. Pullet eggs are still edible.it just takes a few more of them to make a decent scramble! So, our foray into urban chicken raising has finally paid off! And it's pretty exciting! Soon, we won't be making any egg purchases at our local grocery store as we'll be fed solely from our ladies! I'm writing t...

Phew or I'm so stinkin' tired my hair hurts. It's been a very L-O-N-G month since our vacay down to Santa Barbara. Seems like a lifetime ago, actually! And not in a good way! Lelia has been a nightmare lately. My sweet girl, who is usually the smiley-est happiest kiddo has been making whining seem like an art form. What? Where's my sweet happy baby gone? I don't know how to cope with a baby that doesn't sleep! No wonder she's been screaming like a banshee! The good news is.we have a lovely week of va...
CL8N CAMP: January 2011

2 weeks of 2 kids. We're doing pretty good here at Cl8n Camp. Sure. Been some hard moments but overall, the adjustment has been pretty smooth! Wren is now just over 2 weeks old! My, oh my, how time is flying by! Aside from a couple sleepless nights, Wren is pretty much on a 'normal' schedule.meaning she is only up twice a night between 11 PM and 7 AM.not too shabby! She's had a couple episodes of grumpy belly which led to the sleepless nights, but overall her little system seems to be working quite well!
CL8N CAMP: February 2011
http://cl8n.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
It's been 5 VERY long weeks since I posted last. It's not that I haven't wanted to post. Or than I haven't had anything to share. On the contrary, there has been ample of both. Simply put.I'm exhausted. I'm so tired and worn down, even my hair hurts! This should probably not have come as a surprise to me. But it has. Yep, Wren is not Lelia. NOT. AT. ALL. There could not BE a more polar opposite experience to Lelia's early infancy than Wren has presented. Black and white. There have been MANY times in the...

Scrunchy-nosed grin and finger foods. A few weeks ago Lelia started sharing a new smile with us. A scrunchy-nosed, head-thrown-back, eyes-squinted kinda smile. It was hysterical and we constantly encouraged her to repeat it over and over again. I guess we encouraged her A LOT, because she's started doing it more and more frequently. Actually, all the time. Now it's to the point where she just can't help herself! She scrunchy-nose smiles at EVERYONE. Talk about hammin' it up! A gummy, scrunchy-nosed smile.

Catch-up.the photo dump edition. It's been a crazy busy couple of months. I'm sure that has NOTHING to do with the two busy, growing, little girls in our household coupled with my return to work. Nah. That just can't be it. A quick re-cap of the. Lelia is now just over 22 months old. She's got a second birthday in less than two months! Where has the time gone? In looking over photos of the past several months, I can definitely see. She has amazing rolls on her chubby rolls. LOVE IT! Cheese" with two fussy.

Beach trip in hipstamatic. As always, i've been a very bad blogger. it's been over 3 months since my last entry. oy! But instead of trying to play catch-up (although i might do an all photo entry with some of my favorite photos of the summer) i figured i'd just start from, well, now! Wren's new trick.pulling herself up on things/people. Nevermind the fact that she can't crawl yet. or roll over. Someone L-O-V-E-S the beach. Papa and lelia playing in the sand. Taking in the scenery. Playing in the sand.

Frontier Dreams
April 24, 2014. A few weeks ago someone asked what I envisioned for the future of my blog. To be honest it caught me a little off guard and sent me into a sort of thought hibernation. Simply put, these words that I share with the world are a documentation of my life unfolding. I don’t have a specific topic set in stone, my thoughts evolve at such a rapid pace that it would be extremely frustrating to box myself in to a mere handful of content. And last but not least, if you enjoy following pages on Faceb...
