Thursday, December 4, 2014. Thomas Wolfe and Ninety-Six pictures. As part of our study of US History, we finished our historical home sequence with a visit to the Thomas Wolfe Memorial in Asheville. We also caught a performance of the Asheville Symphony Orchestra that same day. Yesterday, we traveled to Ninety-Six, SC to visit the Ninety-Six Historical Site. Wednesday, December 2, 2015. We have Rainbow Trout babies! Just before Thanksgiving Break, we headed out to the Fish Hatchery to learn a little more about our trout that we will be raising. Daniel gave us a lot of information about trout habitat and life cycle. He even let us into the private back room of the Hatchery where all the magic of trout conception happens! Then, on Monday, Mihalas' brought in our trout eggs. They acclimated them to our tank and now we observe and wait! Check out these Blogs!

Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Botany Program at NC Arboretum. Last week the Monarch Class visited the North Carolina Arboretum. Students had the opportunity to learn about the Vegetative and Reproductive parts of the plant and they got to dissect a flower. Thursday, September 24, 2015. Big Bald Banding Station - Southern Appalachian Raptor Research. Upon arrival we met Mark Hopey, the director of the program. He immediately took us to the nets, as it was time for a net check and we found several birds. He taught us how to safely remove the birds from the nets and take them back to the banding center. Beautiful walk along the Appalachian Trail to the banding center. Liza showed us how to collect data about each bird and then band it. Look, we found a lizard!
