January 2016 – Hare of the Blog

https://rosiehare.com/2016/01

Hare of the Blog. Hare of the Blog. Well, I ultimately failed at participating in Digital Writing Month in any kind of meaningful way. Two days after my first post, my laptop broke and I have only just regained access to a working computer at home. I still had my iPad mini but I didn’t fancy being hunched over that and typing for extended periods of time – my poor neck and shoulder muscles! For those who are wondering who the hell I am and what I do, you can visit my team’s website. January 27, 2016.

Social Media – Hare of the Blog

https://rosiehare.com/category/social-media

Hare of the Blog. Why I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. Since both Instagram and Whatsapp are owned by Facebook anyway, they probably don’t care which platforms I’m using – despite them claiming to care about me and the memories I share. Look! Here’s a memory from 8 years ago! We really love you, Rosie! Ever since I read Sherry Turkle’s Alone Together. But there is also an hour long Talks at Google video. I don’t post anything on Facebook unless I want people to react to it or comment ...

November 2015 – Hare of the Blog

https://rosiehare.com/2015/11

Hare of the Blog. DigiWriMo or Digital Writing Month. November is Digital Writing Month. Later this week I’m going to have a go at creating an Alternative CV. As recommended by the facilitators of this year’s Digital Writing Month and I’ll generally try and blog at least once a week throughout November. I better keep up my blog habit for as long as possible, since I’ve gone to the effort of getting a domain and everything! November 2, 2015. Open Badges – the start of a new adventure. Hare of the Blog. Applying for jobs as professional development. May 27, 2016. May 27, 2016. I’m about to start a new job as a TEL Adviser at York St John University and I was reflecting recently on the whole process of applying for the job, preparing for the interview and then reflecting on the interview and presentation after the event. Even if you like your job and have no intention of leaving, but on occasion feel a bit frustrated or stuck, doing a ‘ skills audit. What does everyone else think? Open ...

Thursday, 5 April 2012. Over the four days that I'm in work over Easter I have two main projects on the go. One is designing the College's Moodle page promoting the Olympics and the other is to design a Xerte on basic invigilator training for the Exams department. I'm also collaborating with a colleague to design our new staff-facing page on the College's intranet. It has made me think how much of my role involves designing. I design:. The LRC's pages in Moodle. But it did get me thinking . ! Personal Kn...

Friday, 7 June 2013. Uklibchat 6th June 2013 - Collection Management. Last night I took part in my first #uklibchat on Twitter. The theme was collection management. My job role is Information Advisor (Resources and Content) in an FE/HE College so I thought it could be useful. There will be an official summary written up by @uklibchat but, since this was my first, I thought I'd write my own reflections too. How do you manage weeding of physical stock? How much do you involve tutors? 7 In what ways will Op...

http://rachelcchavez1.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Friday, 23 November 2012. There has been very little time to be involved in anything 'extra-curricular' since the beginning of term. It has zoomed by and I'm only now just able to start checking Twitter and the blogs I follow again. To get me back into the swing of writing for my blog I thought I'd start with an overview of what's kept me occupied for the last couple of months! Delivering introductory inductions to groups of new students. Training new member of the Front of House team. I hope as the term...

Tuesday, 21 February 2012. The Body of Professional Knowledge. I recently completed a CILIP consultation survey on the value of a Body of Professional Knowledge (BPK). The consultation is one stage of CILIP's Future Skills project. A project which will. Review CILIP's qualifications and ensure every member gets the recognition they deserve from their employers and society for a unique suite of highly valuable, relevant and endurable skills.". What does the current BPK mean to you? I'm afraid I ticked.

http://rachelcchavez1.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Monday, 20 August 2012. It's almost the start of the new academic year which, to me, like New Year, is a time for new or fresh starts. I also got married last month so another cause for feeling like the start of something new. I now work in a College and so the start of a new academic year now means new stationery (still! And a renewed enthusiasm and motivation to make the most of each task and interaction. I have even given my blog and Twitter page a fresher look with a new background design! Thinking a...
