Seeking the Muse: June 2008
http://glassgirl-art.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
It seems that house hunting is cramping my art style. Here are a couple drawings I did yesterday. They were sketches to possibly be used for our church's next sermon series. Our pastor asked me to go in a different direction, so I'll have to do that today instead. You can check out the drawings in the meantime, and let me know what you think. On Saturday, June 21, 2008. Seeking the Muse: January 2008

A couple posts ago, I posted a detail, and here's the finished piece. If you don't know what this is, it is called scratchboard. You work in the opposite then drawing with a pen. You scratch away the white. This particular board is made by ampersand,. And it's a black claybord. It's nice because it's not as flimsy as some of the other scratchboards I worked with in the past. I worked based off a photo using artistic license to add or delete as needed for composition. Have you ever tried this? Course, mis...

Seeking the Muse: March 2008
http://glassgirl-art.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Okay, so I finished one more city drawing. It's got a bit of wonkiness to it, but that's part of what I like about it. It's also the one that is most "tight". Check it out and see what you think, and leave me a comment or criticism. On Sunday, March 30, 2008. I think I figured out something I like doing/drawing, that might make a good series. It's a city scene. Not like the previous bridge. But like what I worked on for our church's next sermon series. I actually made 2 dawings. What do you think? Anothe...

Seeking the Muse: November 2007

30 faces - i finished it! So, I finally finished this a couple days ago! And it feels great! It's one of those paintings which I learned alot from, and I'm happy with, and so it's a success already, no matter what. I learned about a limited palette, as well as broader strokes. I learned about acrylic and texture, as well as how not drawing first can affect a painting positively and negatively. It's an exciting new phase for me. It's a great feeling! Thank goodness for craigslist! 30 faces - Steve. I'm st...

Seeking the Muse: December 2007
http://glassgirl-art.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Our good friends, The Goubrans, are taking a month's sabbatical starting this week. I'm glad I captured them, minus Steven who was in the nursery, while in church last sunday. Guys, hope you have an enjoyable month off. Relax, learn, and come back to us refreshed! On Friday, December 28, 2007. Last sunday, it was my sister's birthday. We had a surprise party for her. Lots of people were there, from my parents' church. After a while, I decided to sketch, and I did this one. Pitt brush pen on moleskine.

Seeking the Muse: August 2007

I finished another mixed media piece. Again, it was experimental, and full of learning. This one includes a photocopy transfer, drawing/writing and collage, as well as painting. It includes a bit of a background technique I read about in Claudine Helmuth's book which includes the use of vaseline. I don't think it worked like it was meant to work, but in either case I like the way it turned out, considerin how much learning went into it. Any thoughts, or advice? I look forward to comments!

Seeking the Muse: July 2008

Create where and when you can. Ever since we've been house hunting, I have not been able to finish my art projects, or start any new ones. It's a bit disappointing, cause I'd done several city scenes. Close to finishing another one,. And had even been commissioned by Andrew from Graffiti 2. The thing is, as an artist, not doing any kinda drawing or anything starts to affect my mental health, and my brain screams for some creativity. Here are are rubbings and. Some photos(click on each to see it bigger).
