The Austrian Team at WOC blog. Mittwoch, 22. August 2007. Today sees the running of the long final – in fact the longest ever run final in the history of the world championships. It will be a whooping 18.2 km for the men, with 550 hm, and can you believe that the winning time is expected to be 90 minutes. The first runner starts at 9:31 and Felix will go bounding into the forest at 10:05, about 1/3 into the race. It will be an interesting race. More information will follow,. We have been looking in really good shape all week, so we were hoping for a really good result. The athletes need it of course, after the strenuous qualification over the last few days, and in preparation for Wednesdays middle final. Currently we do not have any start lists, but as soon as possible I will pass the information for tomorrow. Today was the official opening ceremony of the World Orienteering Championships, and unlike the rest of the competition so far, it was actually organised. You could almost say well organised, but that would be pushing the limits a little bit. The Austrian Team at WOC blog. Sonntag, 19. August 2007. Today is the middle qualification, which is possibly the event in which we have our strongest chance to qualify. Again the weather has developed a little fog and is fairly cool, perfect for running, however the weather forecast says that it will be getting hotter as the day wears on.
