Scottish Country Dancing Classes. Sponsored by the Washington, D.C. Branch. Is a modern form of social dancing based on Scottish dance traditions with roots going back for centuries. Dancers in sets of 3 or more couples work together to dance a series of formations to driving reels, jaunty jigs, snappy strathspeys or lilting slow airs. The Dunfermline Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society was formed in 1929 and today we are a small and very friendly branch of the Society. We run a full range of classes from September to May, and unusually for a small branch, we also run a technique class taught by well known RSCDS teachers. In Argyll and Bute, Scotland, some 25 miles west of Glasgow on the north bank of the Clyde.
